After a thrill packed game with City, in which we took the edge 14-13, we clinched our first public school championship and went on to capture thc honor of being the first coeducational school to take Maryland Scholastic Championship. Not to be outdone, the Iunior Varsity and the junior High team had extremely successful seasons, the former beating McDonogh for the championship and the latter completing an untied, undefeated season. These teams have reflected credit on themselves and their coach and we are proud to honor them on these pages. Qdtdment of .EAPMJPQ Back in September '42, four and one-hal f years ago. eight classes of 8A's marched into Patterson's corridors, hold and defiant, to get all they could from high school. Well, here we are, much less bold and without everything Patterson had to offer, but we did pick. up a few things which we should now like to drop into the arms of our faculty and student hody before we leave. To Doctor Katenkamp we leave a map one block square so that he may put Patter- son on the map every day. To Mrs. Schwatka we leave 2,212 Walkie-talkies with television so that she may per- form her many private investigations in the comfort of her ofhee. To Mr. Spinning we leave our appreciation of a very fine person, and the assurance that we will remember him always. To Mr. joseph Mueller we leave one completely equipped wrestling room with a dormitory so that he may give de boys real training ftwenty-four hours a day instead of the usual twelve.j To Mrs. Scharfatz we leave a lie detector with which to test the sincerity of those 1001 alibies in order that the students who really are sick may retire to their respective homes and heal their ills with something more effective than an aspirin. To the secretaries we leave a pair of roller skates apiece to facilitate their innumer- able trips from their desks to Dr. Katenkampls office. To Dr. Speer We leave a little while to rest before she begins that strenuous task of pulling another class over the many barriers to graduation. To Miss Stemple We leave our appetites and a demand for one addition to the menu- chopsuey. To Mr. Kennedy we leave our sincere thanks for his smiles and friendly ways with- out which many a day would have been unbearable. To Miss Grolock we leave a graduation class which will enjoy singing in ten parts and two keys, and an elevator from the orchestra pit to the stage. To Miss U. Reese we leave the assurance that when we're X infinity years old, we shall always remember her. A student never had a better friend. To Miss DeWald we leave many thanks for the good advice she has given us. To Mr. Granek we leave the pleasure of organizing a girl's fencing team. To Mrs. Kelly we leave one class of Patrick Henrys. To Miss Lohrfink we leave the knowledge that she did not Plol us a bit. We recog- nized and liked the keen sense of humor behind that stern exterior. To Miss Whittemore we leave an electric eye which will set off a series of alarms every time a boy steps within twenty feet of her gym. To Mrs. Rogers we leave a new homeroom class which will be just as willing to support her many clubs and activities as the last one was. To Miss Paciarelli we leave one monkey wrench to tighten that loose rail on Her Stalrway. To Mr. McCarriar we leave chimes so that he may add a musical note to his own bell system. To Miss Benson we leave one express train for her sole purpose every morning. It will run from half way to Annapolis to Pratt Street and Ellwood Avenue. To Miss Brusowankin we leave the thought that she is the TYPE we like. To Mr. Biasi we leave a magnet that will draw all topnotch athletes to Patterson. To Mrs. Karl we leave the satisfaction of knowing that she has broken up many a budding romance by her insistent maintenance of a pure Amazon gym. To Mrs. Baldwin we leave a set of printed posters stating, You will not get through on your good looks and winning ways. To Mr. Kessler we leave a street car track to demonstrate the speed of sound on a private phone so that he may hear the buzz without the aid of a battery. To Miss Stidman we leave one class of man-hating girls who will have body and brain co-ordination. To Miss Connelly we leave a Press that will be second to none anywhere and the confidence that with her at the helm our bequest will be realized. To Mr. Palmer we leave our friendship, a small return for all that he gave us. To Mr. Blackiston we leave one Ford-that runs, and a pot of coffee each morning. To Mr. Mainen we leave a class of future lawyers with a sense of humor. To Miss Bowersox we leave one special bus for use on her many field trips, and our appreciation for an assembly job well done. To Mr. Haefner we leave a larger termite shop to clean up, and best wishes for his oncoming soccer season. To Mr. Lawson we leave one bar of soap with the hope that his next senior class will keep a supply on hand. To Mrs. McCauley we leave our whole-hearted thanks for a difficult job well done. To Mrs. Jurgens we leave a room large enough to take care of Patterson's dramatic stars while make-up is being applied, so that they will not have to crawl over chemicals, frogs, fish, and what have you. To Mr. Rodemeyer we leave a screw driver and a pair of pliers with the hope that he will someday be able to use his electrical skills to fulhll his dream to save the U. S. Navy. - To Mr. Sansone we leave a never-ending line of Potters to perform his many and numerous tasks. To Miss Hufnagel we leave a class which will be concerned with the romance of the English grammar-the marriage of the adjective to the noun, the separation of the verb from the subject, and the object always following the preposition. To Miss Evans we leave the completion of the year book after we leave. After all the work she has already done on it, she should not mind too much. To Mrs. Benson we leave our thanks for making the school library serve its proper function in the school at last. To Mr. Norton we leave our appreciation of the band and orchestra, and also our thanks for the enjoyment we got every time we watched him in action as director. To Miss Sharp we leave our apologies for acting on the tip given us by the Class of June '46, as well as our gratitude for her gracious and efficient handling of the money for all of our closing affairs. To the sub-seniors we leave the awe inspiring title, Seniors. But let us enlighten you, it doesn't inspire the teachers with awe. To the juniors we leave the hope that you will have the advantage of more school dances at night than we enjoyed. They're fun, just in case you never got to one. To the sophomores we leave a Visualized Geometry book and two good eyes. To the freshmen we leave four years of high school. Make the most of them that you can. They are the best years of your life. To the alumni we leave many more new recruits into your ranks. To the rest of the faculty and students we leave our regrets that we are leaving you and our envy of all the good times ahead of you at Patterson. And last, but not least, to Miss Whelan we leave- a double heritage, our sincere gratitude, plus an identical twin to teach algebra while she teaches English. fafrons William T. Angle Mr. and Mrs. H.
