B 4 . V mi 91 A, If nn, .mugs V 4 dmlfanma is 5 -, ' 'J Patterson Clipper . . . EVER forward to meet the challenge of mapless seas and remote shores did the daring Clipper ships of yesterday set sail, stirring the heart of the American people with a spirit of pioneer heroism. We of Baltimore are particuarly proud that our harbor offered a homing haven to them. For many years Baltimore gloried in the splendor of their spreading canvas and sturdy hulls. Today, thanks to these pioneers of the deep, we rank second along the Atlantic seaboard. Among those to whom our gratitude can never be fully expressed is William Patterson, a philanthropist, who strove tirelessly for Baltimore's growth. He was the man who so generously bequeathed Patterson Park to further beautify and develop Baltimore, in respectful tribute, our own school was named after him. We are proud to wear the symbol of the Clipper ship on our rings and bear the memorial name of Patterson, for behind both there is a meaning - deep, sincere, and significant.
