The Hobart-Hi-Y, under the super- vision of Mr. Alexander, has done much during the past semester to further the enjoyment and compan- ionship of its members. Among its many activities are swimming, bas- ketball, conventions, dancing and sightseeing trips. The officers are Werner Kernal, president, Charles Meyers, vice-president, Anthony Sarrentino, treasurer, and Lawrence Parlemand, secretary. THE COMMERCIAL CLUB The Commercial Club was organized in April, 1958 to enable the students of the Commercial Course to gather and discuss the newest types of office equipment. Although it is a new club, it has built up its membership to a great number and has been very active, sponsoring a type contest, commercial exhibit, and a handwriting class, Miss Sylvia Slatkin is the adviser. The officers are: Olga Sannik, President, Lillian Barton, Vice- President, Anne Asbell, Secretary, and Gladys Muller, Treasurer.

The faculty adviser is Mrs. Wfilliams, who accompanies them on their trips. The officers are: Rhoda Harris, Presidentg Zelda Bilsky, Vice-Presi- dentg Marvin Greene, Treasurerg and Sylvia Miller, Secretary. THE ITALIAN CLUB The Italian Club was organized in Eastside by Miss Julia San- tangelo. It owns many valuable Italian books which may be used by any member. The Club is also very active. Every year it sponsors a basketball and dance, a Christmas Party is held annually and the mem- bers go on an outing every summer. At each meeting the Pro- gram Committee provides entertainment. The officers at present are: joe Ferraro, Presidentg Sophie Maggio, Vice-Presidentg Jessie Nicoletti, Secretary g Joe Piccione, Treasurer.

Girls may apply for membership at the end of their sophomore year, providing they have shown outstanding athletic and scholastic ability, and also good sportsmanship. Miss Rea is the faculty adviser. The officers are: Marilda Sloan, president, Margaret W Steeger, vice-president, Grace Fox, secretary, and Doris Hinchliffe, treasurer. PUBLIC SPEAKING CLUB The Public Speaking Club, organized about three years ago, cen- ters its activities about the art of delivering public addresses. To this end contests have been held in extemperaneous and prepared speeches as well as in pronunciation and poetry readings. Each semester the Sdhechtman Memorial Award is given to the student obtaining the most points according to a system devised by the members of the club. Co-advisers are Mr. Ellsworth Tompkins and Mr. Barney Lipowitz. President Harvey Asher conducted the meetings this past term.
