One of the oldest clubs in existence in Eastside High School, the Scholar- ship Society has proven that scholar- SCHOLARSHIP SOCIETY ship holds a great interest for many students. Included in its many ac- tivities are the jobs of providing big brothers and sisters for incoming freshmen, providing tutors, and re- vision of the handbook. The officers this term include Sig- mund Westernnan, President, Gloria Orlean, Vice-President, Pauline 'Blen- der, Secretary, joseph Rubenstein, Treasurer, Gloria Kahn, Historian, and Bernice Metz, Parliamentarian. Miss Evelyn Hand is the adviser. THE CRITERION Under the management of George Leffertz, Editor-Emeritus, and Williain Guttenberg, present editor, the Eastsides bi-weekly news- paper Criterion has forged ahead to receive an A rating from the Scholastic Press Association. Present members of the staff are Elaine Katz, Eleanor De Long, Anne Lenlqovitch, Graham Ginsburg, Gay Kitay, Jerome Perchik, Mortimer Rubenstein, and Arthur Bogeinisky.

The Nature Club, advised by Miss Pardon of the Science Department, has in the past year gone on several trips in search of articles for the club project. The finished terrarium has provided much entertainment and is NATURE CLUB a great source of natural knowledge to the members. Officers of the club are: Fina Giraldi, Presidentg Harold Daniels, Vice-Presidentg Margaret Stein, Secretaryg and Jean Farrant, treasurer. of ff CL,c.,,,Q llllllll Ng THE CAMERA CLUB The Camera Club was formed two years ago by Miss L Milliman and still is under her capable supervision Members of the organization have successfully competed in several contests and they are particularly proud of two boys whose pictures are on exhibition at the New York WcJrld's Fair. The club has stimulated great interest in photography and is steadily growing larger. Officers are: David Eilenberg, President Arthur Rosenstein, Vice-Presidentg Joyce Fabrikant, Secretary and ess Sarver, Treasurer.

STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council is an organiza- tion composed of students who are elected to represent their sections. This term the Student Council has boosted the Criterion, the operetta, junior Police Dance and the Clean up Campaign The faculty advisers are Mrs Kathleen Westman and Miss Marion Crooks The officers are I-lildegard Meili President Har xey Asher Vice President and Marie lusilli Secretary Treasurer Com mittee heads are Fina Giraldi Point Committee Sigmund Westermaii Library Committee Harriet ackson House and Grounds Committee and Barney Matthews Publicity Committee THE LATIN CLUB The Latin Club, under the supervision of Miss Beatrice Charney, has just finished one of the most successful semesters that it has ever had. The main activity of the club has been a display about the various phases of Latin in an attempt to prove that Latin is not a dead language, but a very interesting and valuable one to study. The officers who led the club through this successful sea- son are as follows: Graham Ginsburg, President, Gloria Orlean, Vice-President, Leonard Marks, Treasurer, and Leonard Rosen- teur, Secretary.
