La Societe Francaise commenced this term with the election of officers which are as follows: President, THE FRENCH CLUB Bella Finer, Vice-President, Arthur Bogeinskyg Secretary, Georgette Dre- niosg and Treasurer, Fay Krakower. The program committee planned a few spelling bees and pronunciation contests which were carried out with great enthusiasm. The committee has also planned to have a few speakers who will talk on various subjects. A short play, which is un- der discussion, will probably be given either this or the following term. JUNIOR Pom 1 3? - ,Rf Control of traffic and administration of the school grounds are two of the more important duties, the Junior Police have executed well under the force chief, Gregory Howarth. Other officers with sterling records on the force are: Assistant Chief, joe Puglisig First Captain, Fred Griggs, Second Captain, jim Conde, Third Captain, Gordon Dempsey, First Lieutenant, john Stewart, Second Lieutenant, Charlie Miller, Third Lieutenant, Bert Cypher, and Mr. North, Faculty Adviser.

jj? J 'y The Girls' Leaders' Club was organ- Li - L' ized in 1937 with the object of de- LE 'JCLUB veloping and utilizing the power of leadership and assisting the Physical Education Department. Girls may apply for membership at the end of their sophomore year, providing they have shown outstanding athletic and scholastic ability, and also good sportsmanship. Miss Rea is the faculty adviser. The officers are: Marilda Sloan, president, Margaret W Steeger, vice-president, Grace Fox, secretary, and Doris Hinchliffe, treasurer. PUBLIC SPEAKING CLUB The Public Speaking Club, organized about three years ago, cen- ters its activities about the art of delivering public addresses. To this end contests have been held in extemperaneous and prepared speeches as well as in pronunciation and poetry readings. Each semester the Sdhechtman Memorial Award is given to the student obtaining the most points according to a system devised by the members of the club. Co-advisers are Mr. Ellsworth Tompkins and Mr. Barney Lipowitz. President Harvey Asher conducted the meetings this past term.

The International Relations Club was formed two years ago by a group of students under the guid- ance of Miss Ruth Tierney. The Carnegie Endowment for Interna- INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS CLUB national Peace sends the club liter- ature, which is in turn donated to the library for all students interested in current events. The officers of the club are: Leon Bess, President, Bella Finer, Vice-President, Bernice G. Metz, Secretaryg and Benjamin Botwick, Treasurer. DRAMATIC SOCIETY Under the capable leadership of the officers, the Dramatic Society had a very active and enjoyable term. Besides sponsoring weekly contests, the entire club attended a play at Drew Univers ity, and Mr. Lipowitz and Miss Bell, the faculty advisers, have each successfully directed a play. The officers include: President, Frank Levine, Vice-President Gloria Orleang Secretary, Gloria Goldstein, Treasurer, joseph Rubenstein, Historian, Gay Kitay.
