SHIPS HISTURY 1 , s 1 The U.S.S. PASSUMPSIC QAO-1075 was commissioned on 1 April 1946 at Chester, Pennsylvania. She has served in the Pacific Fleet since that time and, while never unde enemy fire, she proudly wears nine of the ten Korean battle stars awarded to U.S. Navy Ships. Passumpsic has the reputation of being a can do ship and she has won the Battle Efficiency Award for oilers of her class in 1956, 1960 and again in 1961. . Passumpsic is, as you know, a Fleet Oiler. The Name Passumpsic is of Indian origin and means clear running water. The ship is named after the Passumpsic river in Vermont. I Passumpsic has seen many foreign lands. Among them japan, Formosa, Indo-China, Hong Kong, North Borneo, Fiji Islands, Korea, Australia, and the Philippine Islands. Passumpsic is capable of refueling two ships at a time, one on either side. We can deliver at one time AVGAS, JP-5, AND NSFO as well as transfer freight and personnel. With the addition of a double hose rig, Passumpsic can pump upwards of 298,000 gallons of NSFO and 200,000 gallons of JP-5 per hour. This type of replenishment has added greatly to the strength of the U.S. Navy by providing mobility and staying power to forces afloat through underway replenishmet.
