EAGLES FLY BY CARDS 33 TO 6 Pasadena ' s Eagles, fresh from their first victory of the season, coasted into Jeppsen Stadium for their game with the Bellaire Cards of Houston. During the first half, the Cardinals clipped the wings of their favored adversaries. As the Eagles left the field at the half, the score was to 0. At the start of the second half, the Eagles looked like a football team. Taking the ball on the kick off, they immediately drove for a touchdown, with David Lemons going the last 31 yards. Ralph Davis recovered a fumble and the Eagles began their sec- ond drive for pay dirt. David Odem dived over from the 3-yard line for the score. For the third touch- down, the Eagles had to move the ball from only 23 yards out. The payoff was made when Danny Bar- field scored on a quarterback sneak from 2 yards out. In the last four minutes, the Eagles scored two times, once on a 58-yard pass from Barfield to Charles Ken- drick, and on a recovered fumble in the end zone by Jeral Rains. The game ended with a Bellaire touchdown, making the score 33 to 6 in favor of the Eagles. David Odem grabs a pass as Bellaire players close in.

32i Scott Bryant (32) scores the Eagles ' first and only touchdown against P ,1.11 ui Ode EAGLES EASE BY PERMIAN 7 TO Pasadena ' s Eagles opened their second season un- der head coach Bob Barfield with a victory over the Permian Panthers of Odessa. The Eagles, playing with their backs against the goal posts the majority of the evening, showed promise for the future in the running of Scott Bryant and David Lemons. Bryant scored the Eagles ' only touchdown, and with Billy Hale adding the extra point, the Eagles emerged with a 7 to win. Don Boozer, Doug Mills and Earl Walling led the Eagle defense, holding the Panthers almost motionless on the ground. Four Eagles swarm over an Indian back. INDIANS NIP EAGLES 21 TO 19 Proving superiority ' both on the ground and in the air, the Eagles found that it ' s the score that counts, as the Port Neches Indians had the final say on the scoreboard 21 to 19. The margin of victory was the toe of Dwain Bean, the Indians ' place kicker. His toe proved true on all three occasions that it was needed. Pasadena and Port Neches alternated touchdowns with the Eagles scoring first on an end sweep by David Lemons from the 4-yard line. The Indians came back to score be- fore the period ended. Pasadena ' s determined Eagles came storming back to score on a run by Billy Hale from 16 yards out, but the Indians scored too, to make the score 14 to 13 at the half. After a scoreless third period, the Eagles took the lead on a pass from Danny Bar- field to Pat Hargis who lateraled to David Lemons for the touchdown. Lemons was stopped short on the try for the two points. The Indians stormed back after a short kickoff to score their winning touchdown, making them victorious by a 21 to 19 margm. STATISTICS PHS P.
