EVELYN RAGAINS ClSCl QHCZ college HOVVARD AT ERESEE AVENUE Omceofm ntkmhnt PASADENA 7, CALIFORNIA To the Pasadena College Student Body: Your Student Council chose for their theme for this year, The New Perspective . Their choice of a theme was based on the closing verses of the thirteenth chapter of First Corinthians. When I was a child I talked, felt, thought as a child .... Now at present we are looking at puzzling reflections in a mirror .... But now that I am a man my childish ways have no further significance .... and the time will come when we shall see reality whole. All through the year, this theme has been recurrent in student body activities from the opening week of orientation, right through to the Commencement season. It has been our hope that it would be more than a slogan. We trust that you have been able to find a new and a better perspective on life and your contribution to this generation. This volume will serve to remind you of that New Perspective, and to assist you in re-affirming the insights and commitments that have made this year meaningful. In that sense it will be both retrospect and prospect. Yours to serve, . rv' C. ' W. Shelburne Brown WSB:es OUR NEW PERSPECTIVE BEGAN WITH A SEARCH FOR OLD POSSESSIONS . . . . . . WA y.-r.- DARWIN HOOD pmuduvt CLIFF FREV tymmwwa KEREN MURTON umetafzy Pasadma Hvllege assaciafed student mfg Fellow Crusaders, The academic year 1966-1967 will be remembered as the year of the New Perspective. But more than that---more than just a memory is the unmistakable change inside. There is discipline. There is a different spirit---a spirit to unify a student community, to accomplish the very difficultfto reach out and involve, to listen with understanding, and when all else failed simply to give. In pursuit of the ideal, P. C. students searched the face of youth and at the end of a year have found that the child is truly the father of the man . And now, as it has been before, the saga of another year is recorded in this book. Yet in the personal ledger the hand writes on. Pasadena College has known of the uniqueness of the class of l967--- and it will know more. Wrestling is one of the newer sports on the campus of Pasa- dena College. This year under the tutelage of coach Lon 'Dain were able to vent their desires the stout hearted men of P.C. for inter-collegiate football by participating in inter-collegiate wrestling. Tuin has developed a good squad in his first year at P.C. What is amazing is the fact that coach Tuin has developed a fine lower weight bracket. In the last match against Cal Tech weight classes from 123 to 160 took al their matches This development of the lower weight classes is a must for a winning team Coach Tuin is alos working with a young squad in the opening year of PC wrestling Many freshmen and sophomores adorn the squad This is also an im- portant factor in the attainment of a strong team, for in its first year at P.C. the wrestling squad is detlnitely building. To show the enthusiasm of the young squad one only has to look at Art Akyamma or Gene Schandorf the two- smallest men of the squad and watch the drive and desire they possess. The present squad consists of Roger Dill in the 123 pound bracket. Jim Groves is the key man in the 130 pound class. Fred be unstop- McCleskey seems to able in the 130 pound class also. In 145 and 152 pound classes for P.C. we have Bozarth and Harmon. At 160 Wackley is the strong man. Stagner, Sullivan, Perez and Hester are the heavy weights al- though Hester ahs been sidelined for some time with a broken nose. As stated before it is a young year for the P.C. grapplers. But it is not just this year that the wrestlers sohuld be watched counts. Lon Tuin is building and for a line season in the following McCleskey, Sullivan and Hester years. With men like Groves, the future does look bright. Just ask any wrestler which sport is the most enthusiastic, toughest and requires the most work. Your answer will undoubtable be wrestling, The grapplers do certainly have their heart in this sport. Since this is the first year of wrestling a few equipment items are in need. The present rnat which is used for wrestling is borrowed. Anyone wishing to contribute to this line cause should contact coach Tuin or the athletic department. Give a wrestling team a coach with the desire of Lon Tuin and wrestlers with enthusiasm like every man on the squad possesses and you have a fine team whether you win or lose, But you don't lose forever with these two un- stopable qualities. Look for the grappler from P.C. to go places in the realm of sports. At the Biola Tournament, Pasadena pla ced Larry Hester-second, Richard Walchle-third who qualified for nationals, Fred McClosky-fourth, Augie Perez-fifth. The total score gave us a sixth place finish out often teams. Q I TID-BITS I , ,md w ga V ,,..41' Smile lfs Only Blood Simon 81 Gorfunkle! One Mobuho 4 -1- Tiger! Bite-em Our Men Are Looked Up To! Je all know what the dictionary and school handbook say they are, but what are they really? They are memories both good and bad, They are no eries of going steady, of failiTj a test because yru're so full ofnlo-Dozu that yew oan't see the paper, of the new-dedication that took place in your life during Q revival, and yes, the bitte nerory of the last play off game played in Fullerton and the quiet ride none. Pasadena Colleye is an institution of learning founded to enable the Christian Youth of this land to cone and study for a vocation and also to have the fellowship with other Christian Youth. We are a young sonool, as young as our students spirit and as youthfal as the wit of our President. We are proud of our traditions and our way of life. Ne have laughed, studied, worried, and worked this year. we buried apathy, walked in the rain to the Christmas Banquet, and almost went to Kansas City. Yes, this year was oneof triurgh and defeat. It was a year of learning too. Ye learned that we can have Christian Fun as well as be ohallan ed intellectually and, as we look to the futute we Shall always say uPasadena C., We love thee H. It is my hope as the Wditor the the 1967 la Sierra that the true spirit of this campus has been captured throughout this edition. Sincerely, S lhria Eeciel ?ditor,l967 A
