The Extended Day program provides a broad schedule of college-credit classes, paralleling
day courses in prerequisites, course content, time devoted to preparation of assignments
It also provides educational opportunities during the day and evening for those who seek
personal and occupational improvements in a modern program of adult education, including
business and distributive education, clothing, craft and graphic arts, engineering and tech-
nology, English, foreign languages, lite science, mathematics, music, and physical science.
ln addition, there are extensive programs in parent education and in trade extension and
apprenticeship. These non-credit courses are developed to meet the special needs of those
who want general interest studies, but who are not interested in accumulating units of credit.
Classes are scheduled both on the college campus and at numerous locations throughout the
junior college district.
The teaching staff is made up of persons highly qualified to instruct their classes. Approxi-
mately half of the Extended Day faculty also teaches on the regular day staff of the Pasa-
dena City Schools. Business, professional, and industrial persons selected from the com-
munity obtain their teaching credentials and give the benefit of their knowledge and skills
to students. The most distinctive change in the program this year has been a sharp rise in
enrollment in college classes.
