' 1. LIESER MILLIGAN, Class Historian CLASS HI 'l'0liY In September, i94O, a scared bunch of brats assembled at the four grammar schools of Selma. It was a momentous occasion, this bright autumn day, for the class of '52 was beginning its eventful iourney through the various traps and pitfalls of the Public School System. Twelve years have passed, and now, with smiles we look back on those pigtail and starched pin- afore days, for we remember the fights and scraps-then as maior crises, now as minor incidents. Our fondest memories are of the sixth grade. Then we were on top of the world, and how we lorded it over the poor first-graders! Later, much to our sorrow, we learned that life is ci continuous cycle of climbing to the top only to find oneself on the bottom rung of a higher ladder. To iunior high we went, with the wind taken out of our sails by a hectic summer, in which the boys lost their hair and we all gained a greater respect for those eighth graders, who suddenly seemed so much older than we. A year later we again reached the top rung of the ladder-we were the eighth graders. Our chief topic of conversation was Parrish High, that mysterious place of our dreams where a good time is had by alI. Second to this in importance, came those wonderful people on whom we had crushes. Usually these idols were seniors at Parrish, and weren't even aware of our existence, but if one of them hap- pened to speak to us, we were the envy of our classmates for weeks to come. fContinueol in Ad Sectioni Page i3O
