S tl Science: practical approach With their microscopes ready, fu- ture biologists set out to conquer the scientific world. The first step was a course in one or more of the scientific fields. The department mainly ran along the same curriculum with a couple of topics being moved up and back, said Mrs. Jo Ann Parker. It included dissecting frogs and cow's hearts, exploring microbiology, the basic elements or nature and studying human anatomy. I expecially like the way we study nature, its compositions and func- tions, said sophomore Teretha Kelly. The Science Department offered a variety of studies, Physical Science, Basic and Regular Biology and Phy- sics. The courses were geared to- ward giving students a good back- ground for future courses in the fields, said Mrs. Jackie Dyer. The well-equipped Science Depart- ment and knowledgeable instructors made a special point to help inform students of the world around them. Lab experiments, field trips and informative films involved students in learning about biological systems and the environment.
