As we entered Parkside IH the fall of 1981 266 Freshmen took their first steps into the wonderful four year institution we call high school We were wary of what to expect those first few days but as the weeks progressed we 266 Freshmen found we could accept Parkside s challenge The class of 1985 chose as President Susan Elias Vice President Nicole Morris Trea surer Karen West Secretary Tncla Harklns and Historian Melinda Bradford as the class officers to help us through our tedious Freshman year Cinderella s Ball was the theme for our Freshman Homecoming and Karen West and Arlette Kelly were our Homecoming representa tives Although we d1dn t place ln Homecoming hall decorations we did place fourth in splnt Even though summer seemed extremely short 268 Sophomores re entered Parkside with one year completed and three to go We chose our officers President Darryl Brow Vlce President NICOIG Morns Treasurer Ginger Cooper Secretary Karen West and Hlstonan Michele Turner We prepared for yet another hectic school year Our Sophomore Homecom mg theme was Come Sail Away and Laune Marberger and Arlette Kelly were chosen as our re presentatlves We placed first in Homecoming splnt and third in hall decorations Also in our Sophomore year we held our first fund raiser the M 8r M Guess to raise funds for our Senior Prom As 255 Juniors entered Parkside for another fun filled year we held our heads a little higher because we had two years already completed Our officers were Jeff Shlpp President Karen West Wce President Ginger Cooper Treasurer Penny Parsons Secretary and Arlette Kelly Hlstonan Our Junior Homecoming theme was Rams in Wonderland and Karen West and Ginger Cooper were our representatives Finally as J unlors we knew we had learned from our mistakes we won first place ln hall decoratlons and a questlonable second ln splnt As a fund raiser we held a rugby sale which would also benefit our Senior Prom One more activity that year was the Jr Sr Banquet The Banquet was a success and we set a precedent for future classes by having a dance after the banquet 1985 Finally amved We were Seniors at lastl 0ur class leaders were Karen West President Ginger Cooper Vice President Carren Carper Treasurer Penny Parsons Secretary and Jenni Poteet Hlstonan This year we were pleased to have an exchange student from Germany Andreas Pantlen When Homecommg amved our theme was Aladdin s Castle and we dominated the rest of the school by placing first ln both hall decorations and spmt Karen West was chosen Homecoming Queen with her attendants Glnger Cooper and Penny Parsons Darryl Brow was chosen Homecoming King with his attendants Craig Leak and Andre Scott After Chnstmas we were devastated by the death of our fellow classmate Denise Trultt As we struggled to deal with our loss we continued to make plans for the end of the year Although there were many dances fund ralsers and pictures we all looked forward to May Prom was held on May 5 with the theme Gone with the W1nd and band Crash Davenport Baccalaureate Semce was held on Monday May 20 followed by Senior Awards on May 21 Gn May 51 1985 225 Seniors received dlplomas Respectfully submitted Jennifer Poteet Class Histonan I - a . , I I - I - - I - - I - I - I xx ' I ll I - I - . . . : - , - 1 I IT I T' I . . - I I - I xx U ll 0 I - . .
