The Parkside Crirls' Tennis Team had a ter- rific season, losing only one match in the reg- ular season to finish with a record of 11 wins and 1 loss. Their Captain, a senior, April Lange, led the team in number one seed all four years of her career at Parkside. April Cap- tured the title of Women's Singles Champion at Districts, accompanied by the doubles partners, Amy Hutchins and Lyn Heineken. Chosen by the team, April was the most valu- able player. Coach Brewington chose Jenni Poteet for the Unsung Hero. Irv and the team wishes the graduating Seniors - April Lange and Jenni Poteet - Good Luck in the future. 'Rx G 4 L Junior John McGee sails over a hurdle on his way to the finish line. The 1984-85 track team was coached by Mr. Lewandowski and Mr. Pump. Four returning Juniors competed this year. Mark Gardiner and Bill Jones combined efforts to dominate the long jump and triple jump in almost every meet. Mike Settles and Darrell Brow paired up to dominate the shot put and the discus. Dwight Jackson along with Jay Trader held their own in the sprinting events. The two mile relay team composed of Rod Parsons, Ed Ag- shead, Chris Lesser, and Dwayne Maddox did extremely well this year and captured the third place finish in the Bayside Meet. Mark Gardiner received the Most Valuable runner award and Mike Settles was named the Unsung Hero. 65

Parkside's Boys' tennis team finished the season with a winning record of 10 wins and 2 losses. Leading the team, the sophomore captain, Danny Cantwell went undefeated for the year, capturing men's singles District Championship. Jim Trumble and Jeff Grasso competed for men's doubles taking third place. The team chose Mike Pusey and Danny Cantwell, both undefeated, for their Most Valuable Players. The unsung hero, chosen by the coach, was Jim Trumble. Along with the team, Coach Brewington wishes the graduating seniors, Jim Trumble, Adam An- derson, Duane Perdue, Chris Pusey, and Mark Munafo good luck in the years to come. Boys' Tennis 67
