Ginger Cooper, Tricia VanDornick, and Jill Tingle give it all they've got in the mile run. The 1984-85 girl 's track team opened their season with many new and young faces. Al- though the team was inexperienced, Coach Potter considered this year a great success. Ten girls qualified for the state meet held on May 25. Kim Clark, Stephanie Hannon, Jack- ie McKee, and Danielle Winslow were the members of the 440 relay. Ginger Cooper, Tri- cia VanDornick, Jill Tingle, and Kim Webster ran the 5200 meter relay. Sheila Bell threw the shot put while Twana Corbin competed in the long jump, shot put and discus. Jackie McKee was named the Unsung Hero and Sheila Bell was awarded the Most Valu- able Participant award. Ginger Cooper, Tiffa- ny Zullo, and Manager Pam Conway are the graduating seniors. 64 Senior Tiffanie Zullo picks up the pace as she nears the fin- ish line. Parkside's softball team was composed of thirteen girls with a strong desire to win. Their wish came true when they ended the season with 10 wins and 7 losses. This was the first winning season in three years. Susan Elias and Liz Dovlmes, the only seniors, led the team through a very competitive season and kept the team in good spirits. Chns Lesser, Keith Brodenck, Dwight Vaughn Trader, Aaron Deal, Mike Settles, Gordon Robert Adams, John McGee, Dwayne Maddox. 'Rx G 4 L Junior John McGee sails over a hurdle on his way to the finish line. The 1984-85 track team was coached by Mr. Lewandowski and Mr. Pump. Four returning Juniors competed this year. Mark Gardiner and Bill Jones combined efforts to dominate the long jump and triple jump in almost every meet. Mike Settles and Darrell Brow paired up to dominate the shot put and the discus. Dwight Jackson along with Jay Trader held their own in the sprinting events. The two mile relay team composed of Rod Parsons, Ed Ag- shead, Chris Lesser, and Dwayne Maddox did extremely well this year and captured the third place finish in the Bayside Meet. Mark Gardiner received the Most Valuable runner award and Mike Settles was named the Unsung Hero. 65
