onke Basketball Donkey Basketball returned to Parkrose for the third year, gathering 3496.56 toward Lettermenis Club Scholarships. The Faculty All Stars were triumphant over the Lettennen's Club, whose numbers were sparked with several female volunteers. Competitors showed their originality with costumes, and their efforts with bruises while they captivated the audience. Cheering the faculty on to their 14-12 win were rally 'girls' Kathie Boyer, Bobbie Chipman, Delores Hanley, Alice Hurst, Bonnie Morgan and Kathy Moss. Rules of Donkey Basketball entail remaining on the steeds for all passes and shots, while stray balls may be retrieved as long as the reins are held. Opposing players may also be attacked while seated on their steeds. rack The Metro Track season finished this year showing considerable evidence of developing league strength, and the Bronco Trackmen found themselves ranking fifth in the district meet. Coach Wes Johnson noted that the initial large turnout had diminished into one of the smallest squads ever, composed primarily of juniors and sophomores. Individual muscel seemed to overshadow team strength during the season and four new school records were knocked off the board. Mike Rangner threw out the old discus record with a toss measuring 129'10 . Rollie Russel blasted faster times for both the 440 and the 880 sprints, while the mile relay team, with John Holmes, Jim Peterson, Dave Reed, and Rollie Russel, outran the previous record for that event. District standings sent these same people on to state where Rollie legged the 880 on to second place. In addition, Dave Bernardy finished fifth in state for the two mile run. District competition resulted in first places for: Mike Rangner, discus, Dave Bernardy, mile, Rollie Russel, 880 and 440, and the mile relay team. Bernardy also clenched second in the two mile, Dave Reed took fifth in the 880, and John Holmes finished fifth in the 440. Taking sixth places were Mike Idlewine in the high jump and the 440-relay team, with members Paul Schuberg, Jim Peterson, Paul Harris and Steve F ylon. Strong individual talent was evident within the girls, track team, although it was primarily a developing year. The team was comprised of two seniors and a base of sophomores. District competition qualified two girls for state, with Marjorie Case running first in the 440 and 880, and Sandy McGil1ivary taking second on the javelin throw. Marjorie was seventh in the 440 and eighth in the 880 at state.
