touchdowns and two conversions. Lindsay Johnston scored in the first quarter, while the second round saw action from the Quakers and Broncs Jim Murphy and Jeff Butts. Parkrose held the lead at the half 22-7. Taking off from Cal Abt's 55-yard pass, Murphy again tallied, with Franklin rebounding, and Paul Sehuberg scoring to close the third quarter. A Jon Goorlling touchdown left the scoreboard reading Parkrose 44. Franklin l3. One week later the tide turned as a scoreless fall to Hillsboro put Parkrose on a sour note for its Homecoming activities. The Spartans lanced 59 yards for their first points and the Broncos followed with what looked like a touchdown run. A clipping penalty called the play back, however, and Parkrose was unable to rebound. ln the second half, the Spartans added three TD7s to shut out the Broncs 29-0. Another taste of victory with a 20-6 win over Aloha rewarded Parkrose fans in the last conquest on home territory. Aloha bulldozed to the Bronco eight as the game began, but a block by Rick Snell promptly curtailed the attack and sent the ball the other way. Scoring came in the middle ofthe second quarter when Ron Albertson and Lindsay Johnston barrelled the score to a 14-O halftime lead. Lindsay ran for another touchdown in the third quarter, while the Warriors gained their only score after a run of over fifty yards. Bronco defense corralled the ball for nearly eight scoreless minutes,,leaving the game to Parkrose. Halloween night saw a near upset against Central Catholic at Multnomah Civic Stadium. The ball ping-ponged until the second quarter when Parkrose scored eight. Tim Raxter, subbing a second week for injured quarterback Cal Abts, fired a seven-yard touchdown pass to Ron Albertson for that score. The half ended in an 8-6 Bronco lead after a Ram tally. Midway through the final quarter, Central Catholic picked up another six points. An interception then spooked Bronco hopes, giving Central the game 12-8. Parkrose left the season with a two-win, seven-loss record as it fell to Jesuit. The Crusaders drove in two touchdowns during the first quarter, waiting until the third to boost the score to 19-O. The Bronco ground and aerial attacks were all unsuccessful and the deepest penetration made was a move to the Crusader twenty-yard line. Jesuit again tallied on a 60-yard run in the final quarter. This left the last game at 26-0, closing the curtain on a hard fought, injury-prone year on the Parkrose football field. Coach Bill Maloney was impressed with the persistence ofhis hardworking Junior Varsity football team. Impressive, too, was the backbone of encouragement and help offered by the subs and manager. The final clash with Central Catholic was if typical showing of the team fortitude and unity. Parkrose was the only school that held an initial two-touchdown lead over the Rams, who ended with 8-O-l season record. At the season's close, the Broncs lost the game, but still proved to be the best competitors who played against this top team. Soccer The Parkrose Soccer Team began the season with a good turnout and high hopes. As the season progressed, though, the Senior membership quickly dwindled to a mere three, taking the mainstay of the team's power. The Broncos suffered several losses due to their lack of aggressiveness and experience. Coach Dusan Pasic believes that in spite of this year's problems, the future looks good for the team because of the number of underclassmen and upcoming freshmen interested in soccer.
