Swimming The boys lost once, to Beaverton. This loss ended Parkrose's record victory streak. At the district meet, the girls placed first and the boys finished second. The coaches, Mr. Anderson and Mrs. Beeman, said that superb individual efforts made up for the shortage of personnel. The swim team had a highly suc- cessful year. The girls won thirteen meets and lost one. The boys won twelve meets and lost one. Chris Sporano, Gayle Kimberley, and Sue Henderson provided the individu- al talent for the girls' swim team. They lead the team in scoring through- out the season. Lary Strong, Mike Hadley, Bob Rubin, and Stan Carper were the outstanding swimmers on the boys' team. Stan will be a sopho- more at the senior high next year. T9

Cross Country The Cross Country Team had their best season. At the district meet they placed second out of the nine teams that participated. Out of twenty-four teams that competed at the state meet, Parkrose finished thirteenth. During the regular season the Cross Country team beat every team except The Dalles. Parkrose had runners finish in the first five places in all meets, except against The Dalles, Wy'east, and Molalla. Twice Parkrose runners captured the first seven places. The team con- sisted of five seniors: Doug Wellman, John Reed, Pete Borden, Tom Sleeth, and Craig Johndohl: five juniors: Mike Keyes, Paul Williams, Lee Skinner, Kirby Warner, Chuck Hag- lund: and seven sophomores: Jim Reed, Steve Ominski, Rick Hancock, Bob Brown, Jim Hawkins, Randy Sprick, and Greg Haslett.
