Track 1968 proved to be a good year for the track team. Working hard they won all of their dual and triangular meets, took district, and then went on to state. At state, Doug Wellman took second place in the mile run. The 440 relay, consisting of Alhberg, Fike, Ominski, and Shifferdecker, took a third place at the meet. In the field events, Fike took a third in the long jump. Together the team earned the highest number of points Parkrose has ever scored at a state meet. This season two records were broken as the 440 relay team set a new time of 43.8. The second record was made by the mile relay team consisting of Alhberg, Ominski, Ried- miller, and Wellman for 3:31.0. The combined efforts of the coaches, captains, and team made this season a very successful one.
