In order to better understand the problems confronting this troubled continent, the mem- bers participated in many district and state conferences, including two weekend confer- ences at the University of Oregon. At their regular meetings they listened to speakers such as Grace Wanjira from Parkrose and a student from Centennial who've come to Port- land from Africa. f.t.a. Future Teachers of America have kept themselves busy this year. Their first activity, selling at the concession stands at football games, was quickly followed up with the induction banquet and the state F.T.A. convention at Linfield College. Their meetings have been highlighted with various teacher panals and a joint meeting with the Sandy and Clackamus Clubs. The high point of the year was the student teaching which took place the first week of April. In May, they held their annual picnic at which they installed the new officers. Mr. Ness-Adv. 21 Q: YET' A -JL... f L., student store One of the most beneficial additions to the school this year was the expansion of the Stu- dent Store. The new store gave needed floor space and convenient walk-around service. All year seven girls worked willingly to provide excellent service to the students during both lunch periods. They sold everything from penny red licorice to Chaucer's Canterbury Tales to pillows. Mr. Gay, the Advisor, had his hands full but managed to do a commend- able job in keeping things running smoothly. Honor was brought to the Store when Student Council voted in Store Manager, Liana Rosander, to a membership on Executive Council. This was just one way the students had to show their gratitude to the new Student Store and the girls who worked so diligently to make it successful.
