student council The agenda for the '66 Student Council was filled with projects throughout the year. The members of the council started the year off right with the annual Leadership Retreat at Camp Colton, where they exchanged ideas and gained knowledge besides joining in fun. The ideas gained from this weekend were a benefit to the school throughout the year. At their regular meetings the council passed such legislature as the summer delivery of Equus Ferox, a completely new and workable constitution, and the addition of the Student Store Manager to Executive Council, besides encouraging the highest percentage of regi- stered voters in the history of Parkrose. Welcome additions initiated by the council were the new permanent ballot boxes, a handsome honor roll board, a mural painted on the breezeway wall, a display of club charter plaques, and perhaps the most important and most permanent, the addition of a coat-of-arms. As shown, Student Council spent a pro- ductive year, reaching goals not possible without the cooperation of each member doing their share. 30 xftlgg

student body officers This year's First Vice-President Greg Frank showed enthusiasm in his planning of Camp Colton and in coordinating the standing com- mittees. Dan Matthews and Dennis Snodgrass shared the office of Second Vice-President, each serv- ing one semester. Their duties were to head the lnter-Club Coun- cil and to take charge of working with the rally squads. All Student Council minutes and agendas were excellently handled by Linda Fulcher, the Secretary. The Assist- ant Secretary, Peg Lisk, was the recording secretary for I.C.C. and took care of the correspondence. Kelly Longcor and Kathy Vanek took turns at balancing the books and writing checks, as they served as Co-Treasurers. Mr. Booth had this to say about the success of this year's offi- cers, The 1965-1966 student body officers have been among the finest leaders that Parkrose Senior High has ever elected. These officers have made a sin- cere attempt to develop other stu- dent leaders and create student interest in school government par- ticipation. The leaders of '66 will be missed but long appreciated. en- iz:-r' ,fwlit X 999 I ' ,xug-fly, '

These students meet before each Student Council meeting to present new ideas or discuss the merits of new proposals. From this meeting comes the agenda for the following Stu- dent Council meeting. This year's Executive Council, recognizing the growth and renewed im- portance of the Student Store, proposed that a representative from the Store be made a perma- nent member of the Executive Council. This pro- posal was eagerly passed by the students. An active organization, this group acts as the hub of Student Council activities. ...I I' The Inter-Club Council, composed of a repre- sentative from each club, found itself quite busy throughout the year. I.C.C. handled Homecoming Week with a great amount of success, staging the best coronation assembly ever presented. At Christmas, they organized the canned food drive, encouraging students to bring in more food than in any past year. Two money-raising basketball games were handled through I.C.C. In the spring the students undertook the making of a robe and scepter to be used in coronation assemblies of the future. Besides these extra activities, I.C.C. coordinated club activities and gave its aid to clubs needing help, making the council a suc- cessful addition to the organizations of PHS.
