I , gf ii K ' - C ' ' Z gs... , V lY-7kY- Y Y g msn .. M :E 4,1 . E , tw principal To a great extent, the life we lead today is made up of a never-ending series of de- cisions. We make decisions as groups and as individuals, some are trivial and some are monumental. There are so many crossroads to face that life becomes bewildering, and our thoughts and actions often become something less than the result of conscious logic. The obvious pro- blems of the world today, those of nations as well as those of individuals, serve as damning evidence that the signs at some of the crossroads have been missed entirely, or at least misinterpreted. It is to be hoped that your education thus far, and that which you find in the future, whether formal or informal, will assist you in pointing your lives in a direction which will improve man's ability to live peacefully and happily in the world. It is to be hoped that you will be more successful in your ventures than preceding genera- tions. We are leaving a world with two strikes against it. Most of us believe that only through education and understanding will come any sort of improvement in human relations. The challenge is obvious. May I encourage you to accept it. You must become better persons, better parents, better citizens, and better leaders than your predecessors if humanity is to survive. The decisions are many but not impossible. Failure cannot be one alternative. ' ' Qkfxliwemm ----....,,.
