Coat of arms This year, Parkrose High School has acquired a distinc- tive new emblem. It seeks to condense, within a simple ar- tistic framework, the hopes and achievements of our school, the beauty of its sur- roundings, its history, and lasting traditions. Incorporating the special sym- bols of the school and com- munity--the bronco, Mt. Hood, the Columbia River, and the rose--with the universal sym- bols of knowledge, art, and physical development, the coat of arms design indicates the variety of goals and interests of Parkrose students, and the opportunities here for learning and growth. The success of the new em- blem, and indeed of secon- dary education for the school's graduates, depends on the ex- tent of their significance and usefulness in the future. Our sincere thanks to the Stu- dent Council, Administration, and Mr. Phil Barrager, Direc- tor of Design for The Crown Company of Portland and josten's of Santa Barbara, California, and to Mrs. Cars- callen for their contributions in the design of the Parkrose High School coat of arms.
