., XS -....s....-l xy dedication: mr. hughes Mr. Hughes came to Parkrose in the Spring of 1956 with a World History major. The mechanical drawing teacher was taken ill, and a substitute was needed. Although Mr. Hughes had never had any courses in mechanical drawing, he agreed to baby-sit the class. He came back the next year, with two mechanical drawing classes and the rest in world history. The 34 drawing students and Mr. Hughes learned together. He took classes in order to teach the students, and soon he drop- ped the history classes to teach all drawing. Now he has a full six classes of mechanical drawing and has turned it into as respectable a course as is offered at Parkrose. The kids call his class mickey draw. They joke about it, but they know that it's no joke. He knows it, too. That's why he's always there - Saturdays, Sundays. If time is any measure of a man's devotion to his work, perhaps the words of a close friend sum up Mr. Hughes' relation to the students: My God, he lives at the school. To Mr. Hughes, who has dedicated so much time and effort for the benefit of his students, we dedicate the 1966 Equus Ferox.
