The coaches--Mr. Herrington, Mr. Rotramel, and Mr. Lyts--originated the ideas that the football team executed. Defensively, the team was led by Doug Buckley who was chosen Outstanding Defensive Player because of his rugged tackling and all-around fierce play. The linemen took inspiration from Jim Allison His ability to block on the line and down-field earned him the Most Valuable Lineman award. Gordy Grote s exciting running earned him the Outstanding Back award. Hard running, fine pass coverage, and over- all excellent play helped Tom Boyle become the Most Valuable Player on this year s squad. This year's only All-League selection was Scholar-Athlete end Jim Scheele, one of eight Oregon football players nominated tor the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame. Captains are chosen for their leadership qualities. This year's co-captains were Jack Mulder and Bill Robertson.

'5-fm.. - i r a iv. ootgci ll Next year's football team had a winning season, with 5 wins, and 3 losses. At the beginning of the season, the Baby Bronchos downed Scappoose 58-0. As the Bronchos galloped on, they continued their ways of winning, beating Sandy 53-0, Jesuit 6-25, Molalla 20-21, Wy'East 25-0, Estacada 28-7, Reynolds 18-7, and W'East 12-18. With the season over, the team showed their coaches, Mr. Bullock, and Mr. Bettendort, their desire to win. By their love of the game, these mighty battlers have proven that they are worthy of playing football in the years to come.
