N.F.L. is more than just a club. lt enables students to perform competitively for trophies and personal gratification, said Ann Lamoy N.F.L, member. lt also provides an atmosphere that will remain with each of us forever. Members of N.F.L. compete in speaking categories such as oratory, dramatic interpretation, and debates throughout the year earning points. A banquet is given at the end of the year to recog- nize the outstanding members of the squad. Park Hill sponsored one of the largest and most prestigious speech and debate tournaments in the four-state area. The squad was also invited to tournaments in California, Texas and at Harvard University, yet they could not attend due to a state law which prohibits out-of-state travel. The Park Hill Speech and Debate Squad is one of the most talented in the state and l am proud to have been an active member, said Mark Box, N.F.L. President. I Thespians is for students who enjoy drama. lt is an honor club for those who are involved in theater. In order to become a thespian, ten points must be earned by acting, working on construction or back- stage crews or independent work in N.F.L. Students acting in a play are eligible for nominations. Six people are then initiated into the club. Thespians learn the basics of theater background and acting and speaking correctly. i'Thespians are the backbone of school plays and really get it going. We're really like one big family, said Vicki Addicot, member. NFLXTHESPIANS 41
