May the warmth of its fire ever rekindle the memo- ries of the past school year which have been preserved with pictures and writing. May the glow of the taper illuminate the goals and achievements which have been sought for and fought for. And may its light serve as a beacon to new sights ahead as we journey on in the path of life. Keep the fire burning as the Torch is passed on. Craduation Faces of old, and faces of new. People we know, and people we knew, Crowing together, then drifting apart. Always an ending, now a new start. At graduation we'll all grow nearer. And all of our friends seem so much dearer. And as we say our final good-byes, One last embrace, and one more cry. A Keep in touch and a Promise I will A remember when but better still. A place in my heart you'll always stay This is what's said as we go our own way. It deals with technical, educational and financial issues. The Board also sends delegates to represent it at district and state conventions. Every year the Student Council chooses two representatives to attend the Board meetings. Representatives this year were Jenny Jehn and Steve Rominske. Mr. Orville Teeters was first elected to the Board of Education in 1971 and was planning to retire after completing eleven years of service to our school dis- trict. Getting here early in the morning, our faithful cooks prepare not only breakfast, but lunch as well. They spend hours cooking and washing dishes for al- most 900 people. Our custodians are very busy all day and often times at night. They do daily cleaning and spend hours cleaning up after wrestling match- es, volleyball and basketball, and all other extracurricular activities. Cooks: (left to right) Carol Severt. Concert Choir was also host for their 2nd Annual Choral Festival held during November. Even under new management it was good to see that the Concert Choir hadn't lost its touch. This year our library was again run efficiently and conservatively. For this we can thank Mr. Burant and his aides. The aides voluntarily gave up their study halls to work there, even though they didn 't get any credits for it. Thursday, Feb. 18, the Red Cross Bloodmobile was at the high school for the second year. This year we re- ceived a total donation of 100 units with 67 first time donors and only 16 deferrals. To be eligible to donate, a person had to be at least 17 years of age and have parental consent if under 18 years of age. The Bloodmobile is run through the Student Council with members doing the various jobs nec- essary throughout the day. This year, the Seniors won the contest between the Juniors and Seniors to see which class could get the highest percentage of eligible donors to donate. For their efforts, the Senior class received $25 for the general class fund. Thanks to everyone who cared enough and gave up some of their time in order to don- ate. The Cardinals did not have a heavyweight or a 112 pound wrestler which was the main problem all year. Brad Larson and John Mollman usually gave Park Falls an early lead in the light weights. Chris Schmidt, Ken Jamros, Kyle Drake, and Matt Burant would hold their own in the middle weights. Greg Hilgart, Kirk Knutson, John Treml, and Grey Cooley would try to get a big enough lead so the forfeit at heavyweight wouldn't hurt. Looks painful! Ciris' basketball in the Lumberjack Conference this year has shown marked improvement. All the teams ex- hibited better fundamental skills which resulted in closer games and more balance in the conference. The Cards were a relatively young team with only three seniors, six juniors, and one sophomore. Their style of play was marked by agressive defense, a fast breaking offensive, and generally tense and exciting games. The departure of starters Lynn Washatka and Kathy Semenchuk will leave the Cards with some important roles to fill for next year. The Cards will need to find a control guard and a strong side forward to be truly com- petitive next year. Statistically, the Cards should end up about .300 for the year and probably in 4th place in the conference. The strong scoring ability of the girls has put four girls in the conference scoring race: Michele Carlson and Kathy Se- menchuk are in the top ten race, and Ellen Campbell and Lynn Washatka are in the top five race, with Lynn bat- tling for 1st place honors. All in all, it has been a great year. Coach Burant looks forward to working with the girls again next year. First row (L-R): Amy Lirson, Lorraine Poetzl, Sharon Radlinger. Last year when I called the first meeting, the turn-out was wonderful. By the time school started in the fall, the membership had really dropped. As the year progressed, the staff dwindled to a few faithful members. We put a lot of hard work into this book to get it out on time. I've spent countless hours working on the book to see that it turned out for you; and also for me. I’ve tried my hardest to produce a yearbook that will best represent 1981-1982.1 hope you like it.
