Marla Miller, Brenda Miller Marla Miller demonstrates techniques she uses in macrame. The Forensics meets this year were held on March 12 - Subdistrict, March 26 - District, and State on April 23. The different categories and members were: Declamation - Penny Christianson and Karin Martin; Demonstration - Marla Miller and Marina Van Keuren; Ex- temporaneous - Betty Jo Diebold; 4-Minute Speech - Karren Engel and Agnes Kanikula; Oratory - Brenda Mil- ler, Lauri Vuchetich, and Terry Christ- ianson; Significant - Polly Christianson and Julie Vuchetich; Poetry - Tom Dil- lon, Rae Ann Breckenridge, Paul Kemper; Prose - Bill Pribnow, Theresa Kanikula, and Jennifer Anderson; Storytelling - Shari Martin and Jenni Hurth. GERMISH CLUB - NEW AT L.H.S. The Germish Club was new to L.H.S. this year. It was made up of students in the German and Spanish classes. They held a Christmas party with the countries’ customs and foods. They held bake sales and sold tacos at local games to raise money for their club and some of the funds were used to eat at Spanish restaurants. HEAD LIBRARIANS The librarians have many tasks working in the library. They have to be familiar with the library to know where a cer- tain book will be found. They check in and out materials and write out overdue notices. Also there is the job of putting away materials in their proper order so they may be found again. At the end of the year, an inven- tory of books has to be taken. This requires a lot of help in checking every book in the lib- rary to make certain it is in the proper place. They have to lo- cate lost books and also repair books for use next year. Mr. Burant is head librarian. He prepares audio and visual materials and checks to see they are in working order.
