HOMECOMING '76 The activities of the 1976 Homecoming started on Thursday when the student body wore a variety of different-looking hats. That night the students of LHS weaved their way through the downtown area. The destination was the athletic field where the members of the junior class built the bon fire, which was to be burned to the ground. When the spirit of the students grew to its maximum watching the Hurley foot- ball player crumble into the flames of the fire, they started the battle of the classes, which the junior class won. The following day a good portion of the students wore clothing consisting of red and white. With the hard play- ing of the football team and the grand spirit of the crowd, no wonder the Cards defeated the Hurley Midgets. The seniors and quite a few under- classmen decorated the gym for Saturday night. They had rainbow walls consisting of blues, greens, and The Park Falls Band again displays their expert talents at half-time by providing purples, and a simple decoration on entertainment and contributing to the Homecoming spirit, each table. The coronation started at 10:30 when freshman attendants David Post and Debbie Hilgart lead the procession. They were followed by sophomores Curtis Sheldon and Mary Radlinger, the junior atten- dants David Hilgart and Ann Balzar, and seniors Mike Larson and Chris Palecek. Following the senior atten- dants came King David Liebelt and Queen Laurie Hilgart. Brett Swen- son and Heather Swanson, the crown bearers, completed the procession. After the crowning, the king and queen and the other court members had the floor to themselves, while they danced to the music by Burst” from Ladysmith. Attendants lead the dancing. This photo tells the story. 8

SADIE HAWKINS The girls at LHS got a chance to ask their favorite guy to the annual Sadie Hawkins dance, sponsored by the sophomore class, on November 12. The theme for the 1976 Sadie Hawkins dance was Magic Man. With the help of Marie Burant, Laurie Behreandt, Karen Herbst, Lisa Sheedy, Agnes Kanikula, and Carla Messerschmidt, the mood was set to perfection with silver moons and stars dangling over the heads of the students while dancing. Pizza and pop were available in the cafeteria for the students when they got hungry or thirsty after dancing to the music of Disco and Co.” Marie Burant, in charge of the af- fairs, was very pleased to see the tremendous turnout, but next year people have to eat more food! DISCO CO. provided an unusual form of entertainment for the Sadie Hawkins dance. Magic Man was the theme for the dance sponsored by the sophomore class. There was a good turnout for Sadie Hawkins and everyone had a great time dancing to popular hits. 10
