ClOM W On a bright September morning of 1959, a group of 30 eager Freshmen began their high school career. With our class advisor, Mr. Nissen, we held our first class meeting and elected the following officers: President, Har- old Fasig; Vice-President, Dennis Sturm; Secretary, Jeanne Wartgow; Treas- urer, Helen Fischer. Our Student Councilman was Dennis Sturm. We be- came full-fledged Freshmen at the initiation dance, which was sponsored by the Sophomores. We gained one student, Jim Kolonko, who joined us second semester after attending the Seminary for a semester. In our Sophomore year we enjoyed initiating the Freshmen. We elected the following class officers: Jim Kolonko, president; Dennis Sturm, vice-president; Jeanne Wartgow, secretary; Donna Lavin, treasurer; and Harold Fasig, student councilman. We had the misfortune of losing five students, namely: Dean Krause, Carol Rominske, Jean Rominske, Harry Stangel and Dorothy Koch. This left us with a class of 26 students. Our Junior year commenced with 26 students. The class officers were: Dennis Sturm, president; Ken Boness, vice-president; Jeanne Wartgow, sec- retary; Donna Lavin, treasurer; and Harold Fasig, student councilman. During the second quarter we lost Darrel Wages, who rejoined us second semester. Early in the year we had the thrill of receiving our class rings. The year ended with the Junior-Senior Banquet. Then came the year to which we had all been looking forward, for we were now Seniors. Mr. Nissen was again our class advisor for this final year. We elected the following class officers: President, Jim Kolonko; Vice-President, Judy Glaeser; Secretary, Jeanne Wartgow; Treasurer, Don- na Lavin; Student Councilman, Harold Fasig; and Student Councilman-at- Large, Jim Kolonko. We lost one student, Bernard Wendland, and gained one student, Dean Krause; leaving us with a class of 26 graduating students. We received our graduation pictures shortly before Christmas. Now, as we approach the few remaining days at Butternut High School, we do so with happy memories and with regret. We would like to express our deep appreciation to Mr. Nissen, our class advisor throughout high school, to Mr. Stoltz, to Mrs. Ford, our Butternut and Echo advisor, and to all the teachers, who have played such an important part in our lives. We feel that these four years have been all too brief; and, as we go our separate ways, we extend best wishes to all our classmates. Written by Charles Jaglinski
