When all the clouds darken up the skyway, There’s a happy highway to be found, Leading from our glory now. To a world that seems so dark, Trying hard to make it shine. Somewhere out in this new world We’ll find friends, There’s a place for each of us To serve with loyalty. Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue, And the dreams that you dare to dream Really do come true. Someday we’ll wish upon a star And ask dear God to lead and guide us far. When we attempt and then we fail, And then we try again ’til we succeed We’ll rejoice. Somewhere over the rainbow our goals wait, For each step that we take now Nears us to it each day. If others try and do succeed In this new world oh why, oh why can’t we? CLASS MOTTO Onward and Upward On June 17, 1993,1, Judy Glacser, private secretary to James Kolonko, president of the Electro-Nuclear Computers, Inc., Los Angeles branch, am boarding a nuclear-powered plane along with my employer to confer with Major Kenneth R. Boness, who will test a Transcontinental Space Craft de- signed by Toby Kilger, a former classmate. While waiting for the plane to take off, we recognized our stewardess to be Dorothy Jamieson. As we talked over old times, Dorothy told us that classmate Bonnie Holt had just been named Fashion Co-ordinator of the year. After landing at New York’s Idlewild Airport, we went to the delicates- sen and found the hostess to be Ellen Kadrlik. She asked if we had heard that Fred Hirtreiter and Robert Hein are the chief mechanics at Idlewild. We hadn’t, but were glad to hear it. On the way to the hotel, we rode in the newly developed transport which, to our surprise, was driven by Darrel Wages. He told us he was surprised to see us as he had just driven an- other classmate, Chuck Jaglinski, to the New York Biological Center where he is now employed as a research biologist. We pulled up in front of the Hotel Sky Beam, entered the lobby, and found Glen Scherwinski behind the desk. We were glad to see him and asked how he secured his position. He told us he was working for Harold Fasig, manager 01 the Hotel Sky Beam. I went to the nearest phone to make an appointment with Major Bo- ness. As I asked the operator for the number, her voice caught my atten- tion, and I recognized it to be Janet Schultz’s. I asked her how Judy Rose was, and she said Judy was working in the same Communications Bureau office. I reached Kenneth quickly and he set the appointment for 10:30 the next morning. I went to my suite, tidied up after the long day, and picked up the evening paper. To my surprise I read, “A cure for all forms of can- cer has been discovered by Jeanne Wartgow.” I then turned to the Women’s Section of the paper and read a column which was written by Lois Liesenfelder, a leading fashion columnist of the New York Times, edited by Donna Lavin. Lois stated in her column that Nancy Schloer will be modeling the new Paris fashions in New York on June 24. I then retired for the night, woke early the next morning, and left with my employer to confer with Kenneth. As we entered the Military In- telligence Center, we were amazed to see Charlotte Tesch as the recep- tionist. She told us we could see Kenneth immediately; therefore, we pro- ceeded to his office. We discussed business with Kenneth, and he told us Helen Fischer was largely responsible for the mathematical computations on the project. After our talk with Kenneth, we went back to the reception desk. We told Charlotte we had heard of the success of most of our classmates on this trip. We asked if she knew of the whereabouts of Jane Wartgow or Bonnie Weinberger. She told us Jane had obtained a Master’s degree in history and is now teaching at the University of Wisconsin. Charlotte also said that Bonnie was in charge of the Correspondence Department of the Prudential Insurance Company in Chicago. We left immediately as we had to catch the next plane to Los Angeles. As we waited in the terminal, four uniformed officers walked by. Jim noticed the pilot was Dean Krause. He called Dean over and asked if he was piloting Flight 707 to Los Angeles. Dean said no; he had just arrived and was taking a coffee break. Jim asked Dean if he kept in touch with Dennis Sturm because they were close neighbors in school. Dean said he stops in to see Dennis occasionally at General Hospital in Washington, D. C., where he is a leading neurosurgeon. He also told us that Ruth Fal- tinosky, as head nurse, assists Dennis in many of his operations. We said good-bye to Dean and boarded our plane, thinking of the suc- cessful students of the Class of 1963. by Judy Glaeser and James Kolonko MO 7 Clm tl oCt We, the Senior Class of 1963, of Butternut, Wisconsin, in twenty-six individual and distinct parts, having gone through the halls of education, being of unsound mind and memory, but mindful of the uncertainties of human life, do hereby make, publish, and declare this our last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills made by us. To the Junior Class we will our standing responsibility as Seniors. To the Sophomore Class we will our ability to be quiet in classes and to follow the teacher’s advice, so they may also gain in knowledge. To the Freshman Class we will our power of concentration. I, Kenneth Boness, will my laughs to Jerry Brickheimer. Look alive, man. I, Ruth Faltinosky, will my physics book to anyone who wants it. I, Harold Fasig, will my ability to run the mile in 4:40 to Wayne Wart- gow. Longer legs will help, too! I, Helen Fischer, will my cornet to anyone who likes music. I, Judy Glaeser, will my ability to carry nine subjects in my senior year to anyone who wants to keep busy carrying books home. I, Robert Hein, will my ability to grow sideburns to anyone who wants to try it. I, Fred Hirtreiter, will my ability to pass history in two years to any- one who misses it the first year. I, Bonnie Holt, will my ability to be cheerleading captain to Marge Golomb. I, Charles Jaglinski, will my ability to go through high school without smoking or drinking to all athletes. I, Dorothy Jamieson, will my messy desk to anyone who can find time to straighten it. I, Ellen Kadrlik, will the lock on my locker to anyone who can get it open. I, Toby Kilger, will my ability to get along with Mr. Fox to Herman Hoffman. He needs it. I, James Kolonko, will my ability to pass Chemistry to Jim Krueger. It’s not as easy as you think. I, Dean Krause, will my height to George Teschner. You may play center some day. I, Donna Lavin, will my treasurer’s books to Mrs. Dvorak. I, Lois Liesenfelder, will my ability to have the worst filing system for my papers to anyone who wants to put up with it. I, Judith Rose, will my long hair to anyone who can grow it. I, Glen Scherwinski, will my tennis shoes to Wayne Wartgow. That way you won’t have to “hock” them all the time. I, Nancy Schloer, will my driving ability to anyone who dares risk living dangerously. I, Janet Schultz, will my singing ability to Marge Golomb. Practice makes perfect. I, Dennis Sturm, will my physics book to Charles Tesch. The world can always use another physicist. I, Charlotte Tesch, will my ability to finish high school to Ruth Scher- winski. I, Darrel Wages, will my gym suit to anyone who can stand the smell. I, Jane Wartgow, will my ability to maintain a C average in physics to anyone who can do it. I, Jeanne Wartgow, will my cheerleading uniform to Mary Kopan. Cheer them on to victory. I, Bonnie Weinberger, will my cheerleading uniform to Carol Wein- berger. To the faculty and to the parents of the students of the Senior Class we express our heartfelt thanks for the many sacrifices they have made that we might continue to grow in our knowledge. Let us ever hold them in high esteem for all the good things they have done for us. ClOM W On a bright September morning of 1959, a group of 30 eager Freshmen began their high school career. With our class advisor, Mr. Nissen, we held our first class meeting and elected the following officers: President, Har- old Fasig; Vice-President, Dennis Sturm; Secretary, Jeanne Wartgow; Treas- urer, Helen Fischer. Our Student Councilman was Dennis Sturm. We be- came full-fledged Freshmen at the initiation dance, which was sponsored by the Sophomores. We gained one student, Jim Kolonko, who joined us second semester after attending the Seminary for a semester. In our Sophomore year we enjoyed initiating the Freshmen. We elected the following class officers: Jim Kolonko, president; Dennis Sturm, vice-president; Jeanne Wartgow, secretary; Donna Lavin, treasurer; and Harold Fasig, student councilman. We had the misfortune of losing five students, namely: Dean Krause, Carol Rominske, Jean Rominske, Harry Stangel and Dorothy Koch. This left us with a class of 26 students. Our Junior year commenced with 26 students. The class officers were: Dennis Sturm, president; Ken Boness, vice-president; Jeanne Wartgow, sec- retary; Donna Lavin, treasurer; and Harold Fasig, student councilman. During the second quarter we lost Darrel Wages, who rejoined us second semester. Early in the year we had the thrill of receiving our class rings. The year ended with the Junior-Senior Banquet. Then came the year to which we had all been looking forward, for we were now Seniors. Mr. Nissen was again our class advisor for this final year. We elected the following class officers: President, Jim Kolonko; Vice-President, Judy Glaeser; Secretary, Jeanne Wartgow; Treasurer, Don- na Lavin; Student Councilman, Harold Fasig; and Student Councilman-at- Large, Jim Kolonko. We lost one student, Bernard Wendland, and gained one student, Dean Krause; leaving us with a class of 26 graduating students. We received our graduation pictures shortly before Christmas. Now, as we approach the few remaining days at Butternut High School, we do so with happy memories and with regret. We would like to express our deep appreciation to Mr. Nissen, our class advisor throughout high school, to Mr. Stoltz, to Mrs. Ford, our Butternut and Echo advisor, and to all the teachers, who have played such an important part in our lives. We feel that these four years have been all too brief; and, as we go our separate ways, we extend best wishes to all our classmates.
