No war or depression, no fashion changes or rebellion can ever change the emotions of graduation. Filled with excitement, laughter, and sometimes tears, relatives continue to gather for annual commencement services. In the 1960 ' s students donned their blue gowns and their tasseled caps to greet their sufserintendent and gather as a class for the last time. In the 1980 ' s the tradition still ex- ists. Parents continue to cry, some even showing signs of relief as their graduate ' s name is called. In 1984 graduates received their diplomas on a sunny evening at Noyes Stadium. Valedictorian, Kathy Cecil, and salutatorian, Rhonda Mayberry addressed the class. Guest speaker was Raymond Berry, Jr. who spoke to the class suggesting that success would come from seeking after God ' s will. Commencement exercises mark a beginning in the life of any graduate. Through the years, time has not changed this. Family and friends join the 1984 graduates in their celebration. Felts, 1984 graduate, enjoys his moment in the sun. Assistant Superintendent addresses the commencement audience. 12 Graduation

The crowd ' s enthusiasm, the Blazettes ' performance, and the band ' s triumphant playing helped ease the pain of the Wildcats ' defeat at the hands of the Denison Yellow- jackets.
