ffm , awww! The greatest challenge for public education is to cause learners to raise their levels of delivery to be consistent with high levels of expectation. But to cause achievement at those high levels requires committment both by the teacher and by the student- by the teacher to caring, sharing , and daring: and by the student to anticipation, application , and evaluation . PHS in 1975-76 was a place where teachers cared enough to allow students to know they were loved: shared enough to allow students to grow academi- cally, intellectually, and socially, and dared enough to motivate students to reach their highest goals. PHS in 1975-76 was also a place where students anticipated what experiences would be helpful toward meeting their individual goals: applied what they know to solving problems and making decisions for their future: and evaluated who they were, where they were going, and how close they were to arriving . A year that was at times frustrating, ennervating, maddening, disconcerting, stultifying, even vic- timizingg most often 1975-76 was invigorating, refreshing, strengthening, fortifying, sustaining, and vivifying. Always it was PHS - and always we were Eagles. And in those two things alone is wrapped all the pride and tradition that causes the people who live there to know we are the best.
