IIICRNQXRIJ SIMONS--Guiding the Tucsonian this year is Bud Simons, who has an opinion on everything and a will to back him up. llusy at all times, he manages to keep a jovial smile and rugged laugh. :Xt home there are plenty of vegetables and honey to verify his interest in horticulture and airplanes. .IANICIC FRIICUMJXN---Sniootli secretary of the senior class, Chronicle circulation manager, and Tucstnian business manager is jan Friedman, a popular trick with beautiful brown hair, Sincere, and anxious to do Il good turn, she has captured the hearts of all with her natural manner and merry twinkle in her eyes. Bl-IRT l'R.-XTT-'I'l1e guy with the cheery deep voice and broad shoulders is Bert Pratt, football tackle, president of the Lettermatfs Club, and all- round hearty fellow. Quiet and with a purpose behind everything he does. Bert is noted for his easy-going manner, and appearance ot a football hero. TOM XY.XlJIJl2I-l.-Ace photographer and managing editor of the Tucson- ian is mild-mannered Tom XVaddell, the busiest guy in school, forever scurrying to and fro snapping pictures on rush assignments. A hard worker, loyal, and a straight shooter describe him. NVQ might add he is a versatile actor, XYICHIQR ST,-XRXS-NYitl1 a business-like attitude and engaging grin, XYeber Starns served as co-business manager of the Chronicle until he graduated from high school and enlisted in the Navy Y-ll in january. XYe have missed his helping presence this second semester, but look forward to see- ing him later in life. M,-XRGLTICRITE XN'Ol.Fl2--A rollicking bundle of brains, voice, and talent is Marguerite NY1,lle. just VK'ollc for short, the eapable aditor of the Lit- erary Quarterly, member of the Chronicle editorial board. and girls' quar- tette. ller golden voiee has often added much to our assemblies, as haxe her efforts to better our Quarterly, XYRICNFICRIJ T.XCKlQ'l'T-Stocky XVrenferd Taekett, all-state right half- back, had been with us all through school, serving as president of the Let- tern1an's Club until he graduated in january and enlisted in Cncle Sant? Gmliulaaimcf FRANK IZUICIC--Frank Pancho Boice, president of the senior class, out- standing football guard, and an all-weather friend, is deservedly admired by his legion of friends. A regular western rancher, Pancho has de- veloped a powerful set of muscles from herding cattle and doing all the various range tasks besides his track work. LYLE MORRISON-Tlle vivacious secretary of our student body is Lyle Morrison, packed with vim, vitality, and a loud Hi ! VVhen she is sick, she has to act, because Lyle is the perfect picture of one ready to set the world on fire. Look to Lyle for leadership. She is a girl waiting to do one a good turn. MONTY NVILKINSON-'l'hat tall, sheikish vice-president of the senior class is none other than Monty VVilkinson, who is also a Hash with a javelin. As his lithe presence provokes sighs from the girls, the boys will like his modest actions and genuine interest in every person he meets. llis reserced manner earns him many friends. U BETTY LOU ANDERSONVAA bushel of pep is found in Betty Lou An- derson, our senior class councilman and yearbook album staff editor, who finds time to be on practically every organization in school, A Colgate smile also enhances her chestnut hair and eyes, which greet with a sparkle, even the lowly sophomore. OSCAR CONZ.i'Xl.liS-The wily character you have undoubtedly seen all around the vicinity of school and Tucson's near-by environs is Oscar Gon- zales, senior class councilman-at-large. It is worth the price of a movie to see Oscar describe a prizetight and watch his flashing white teeth and very descriptive gestures. ROHERTA SMAIL-Young lady with the Yeronica Lake appearance is 'Bobbie Smail, versatile managing editor of the Chronicle. She surely knows her business, and manages to do two things in the time it takes others to do one. ller winning smile and sharp tongue are widely known in the annals of her associates. ALVIN KIX'lil.--Altlioiigli he is diminutive, Al Kivel certainly packs a wallop. To his careful guidance we may attribute the success of our bas- ketball squad. llesides being all-state forward and captain, he plays a mean game of baseball, where his calmness' and sense of direction are clearly demonstrated. KlQl.l,lCY RULLINGS-.VX well-dressed man-about-schotil is Kelley Rollings, scholastic brain and editor of the medalist-winning Cactus Chronicle this year. In line with his work on many other clubs and as managing editor of the Tucsonian, he keeps a cheerful, fun-loving personality and is capable of doing hard work with seeming ease. MARY H UTCHINSON-Mary Hutchinson, Hutch to all, overflows with that certain something, which, with a willing smile and gracious charm, elected her Rodeo Queen of 19-14. She can ride a horse like a dream, finds time to be Tucsonian advertising business manager, and the number of her friends runs into an astronomical figure. DOCKQIMXS COZART-Capable Chronicle managing editor and Honor So- ciety president is jolly Doug Cozart, whose unruly hair gives away the fact that he is a guy always on the Ngo. Serious and dependable, with an amusing be11d toward a practical joker, he may be counted on to do any job right. DICK Ml'l'CHl2I.l.-Dashing Dick Mitchell, who has a finger in every pie, wows the girls and swings one of the fastest tennis racquets on the team. True and considerate, Mitch always is having a great time. XYith his fine talent for drawing he will go far in his chosen field of architecture. CiRl'1'l'ClIIiN GERHART- tin-teh is a girl with a double purpose in life, to make friends and enjoy herself doing it. And we agree she accom- plishes both things well. She is a member of the tennis team, holds the high position of co-business manager on the Chronicle, and showers every- one with her fun, BOB YOL'XGiHandso1ne Bob Young has talent in every field, but displays it most often on the stage or standing behind a bass. The originator of our notorious Mock has the physique that puts him at the top in the pole vault and relay runs. His infectious grin catches us all in its wake. TONI RUDULPH-Senior star of the tennis team is attractive Toni Rudolph, whose gay presence may be seen at every school function. Those exciting bangs and laughing blue eyes denote a personality interested in the world. Her appealing, Winsome smile along with an exploring mind will carry her far. - -- ,, ., fa...-ul'
