Emu This year the 'lunior Red Cross started to work under a new plan. instead of hav- ing a Council as we have had hefore. any student could apply for the position of home-room chairman and those applicants were chosen as chairmen who were especially well recommended. ,Xll ol the junior Red Cross projects were planned hy a Coordinating Committee which consisted of sixteen homeroom chairmen. The Red Cross had several special projects this year and they put them over with a hang. The first was a vaudeville show, which was put on after school. The show had ten acts and the swing hand supplied the haclcground for the frolic. Their second project was the Red Cross lfiesta, which was put on for the third successive year in the cafeteria which was gayly decorated with tl1e Red Cross flags and also the flags of the 33 allied nations. There was enough money contributed i11 the llome Rooms to maintain the High School's hed in Comstock Children's llospital, and also to give titty dollars to the National Children's Fund. For a second year war-time quota the junior Red Cross supplied 652 items called for in this year's quota, l.ois l luhhard was the girls' chairman of the Cioortlinating Committee. and Milton tiihhs, hoys' chairman.
