S ' 62' lfndcr the leadership of Bliss Kathryn Young, head of the l'hysical liducation department and Bliss Virginia Robinson. director of this ycar's festival and with the aid of Miss .Xnna -lune liogelsong and Nlrs. .Xlice liabby. the traditional Spring lfestival was auditioned in the high school stadium on the evening of .Xpril ZS. The basic costume was our well-known blue gym-suitg no one can deny its all- around utility. ' llefore a large and appreciative audience the marching. tumbling. and dancing ability of most of T. ll. Sfs feminine population was displayed. The different selections demonstrated skill. coordination and a jolly sense of humor. llovvever. the athletically-minded girls were not the only ones who gave an admir- able performance. Stout-hearted and loyal parents crouched shivering during the entire program. They deserve a note of thanks doubtlessly. liven Old .Dame XYeather had a trick up her sleeve in the form of a chilly late-.Xpril night, The list of events was as follows: ln the way of an introduction the mid-year Sophomores strutted their stuff in a marching drill. 'luniors and still more Sophs did a group dance to the contem- poraneous number 3lairzy lloatsf' White ruftles added a dainty. gala note to the serviceable blue garments. Following this the advanced movements timed to the music of Strauss' Overture to Die lfledermatutsfl lThat quotation de- lines dance in case you're wonderingd Folk dances representative of various foreign countries were executed by the quick and nimble Sophs lyes. once againj. Not to be outdone. America was illustratively pictured by Pop Cioes the XYeasel and an old-timer, Badger Gavottef' probably having to do with the 'l' Clubs dancc. lingland came in for her share with the modified girls' Flowers of lidinburg. Rough and tumble Ci.,X..'X. tumbling girls soniersaulted and performed spectacu- larly. ending with large human pyramids. Xgain thc advanced class had a numberg this time it was a bolero to some of liavel's fascinating native music. .luniors were joined by Sophomores for a Picnic in the XYoods',-a lively polka. School Days sent the advanced tennis class into a capricious waltz clog not without some cart-wheels and leap-frogs. .Xlmost immediately hundreds of girls in blue filled the held for lCxe'rcises. These numerous rhythmic calesthentics presented quite a spectacle as they were performed in unison. The Senior girls closed the program with a graceful waltz to Strauss' Rosenkavalier XYaltzes g costumed in spring formals of pastel shades. J .

Teams were chosen and inter- class tournaments were held. .Xlsn fi..'X.,'X. credit was given for after-school play- ing in both these spurts. liasketlnall courts were in the annex lunilding with practice baskets for use at all times. llylo is played on a part of the fmntlrall tield where girls can he seen at all times pf the day playing hylo and other active sports. .Xnother ti..rX.,'X. recognized activity uttered after scliuul the last semester was tumbling. .X group of approximately 30 girls stayed to learn some of the finer points ut' tumbling and some of its exercises.
