lasses finally begin. Students find themselves in a daze trying to find various lecture rooms and laboratories, but as the days move by a routine is established. To students enrolled in science, mathematics, and engineering the walk to and from the science building is a well-traveled one. Once you step into the modern labs you note the type of work done in them. ly icroscopes, slides, the odor of form- aldehyde, and skeleton samples are all aspects of the laboratory classes. I he slide rule, standard equipment for the engineering majors and for students enrolled in higher mathematics, is a fascinating instrument. I im and Joe seem quite content with ex- amining the day ' s comparative anatomy assignment. t acuity members at PBJC- are always willing to help and advise students whenever necessary. An attentive freshman audience listens to words of wisdom presented at orientation. C ollowing the frustration of registration day, we found ourselves seated in the student center with newly-acquired friends. As we listened mindfully to Dr. Leonard ' s talk our hearts and minds were gathering knowledge that would stimulate our college life. The value of the orientation assembly would linger with us throughout the year and help guide us in important decisions. The student cen- ter was packed to the walls and chairs had to be placed in the patio to accommodate the large crowd. Students seated in the patio area faithfully and attentively listened to the speeches regardless of the hot sun ' s discomfort. Upon com- pletion of the formalities, the freshmen girls remained at the assembly to receive the an- nouncement of their big sister, who was to guide them through the first quarter of school. A s the girls left the student cen- ter, they proceeded to the new- ly-constructed music building where they were entertained at the Philo sponsored tea. The officers of Thi Del and Philo became better ac- quainted. The excitement of so many new faces and personalities combined made us look forward to a wonderful year.

V K . ts! a y ■S break from the serious nature of classes was the annual all-college pool party held at Lido Pools. Splashing, jumping, diving, eating, chatting— all added to the enjoyable event. As the evening progressed the slight hint of rain blossomed into a violent storm. Most of the students headed for cover but the braver lot vk eathered the storm in the pool.
