Purchasing beanies, obtaining car stickers, and filling out forms begin the procedure of registrati REGISTRATION BROUGHT EXCITEMENT T( DEGISTRATION DAY! Remember how everyone seemed to be dashing around? The freshmen were being oriented into campus life at PBJC. The first thing we did was to register our cars and receive an armful of school regula- tions and schedule forms. Then we were directed into the conference room. We grabbed a seat, desperately hunted for the pen we thought we had brought, and settled down to fill out the forms. Remember how monotonous it became writing the same information on nearly every form? With that finished, the clerk at the door handed us another form con- taining a number. He explained that an- other clerk would call us when the course counselor was ready to see us. While we were consulting the counselors we found them helpful and patient. Some two hours later we visited the finance officer and following a stop at the registrar ' s desk, our registration was completed. It was a frustrating day; yet, there was a certain anticipation for Mon- day, the first day of classes when we would meet new friends and embark on our college career.

An attentive freshman audience listens to words of wisdom presented at orientation. C ollowing the frustration of registration day, we found ourselves seated in the student center with newly-acquired friends. As we listened mindfully to Dr. Leonard ' s talk our hearts and minds were gathering knowledge that would stimulate our college life. The value of the orientation assembly would linger with us throughout the year and help guide us in important decisions. The student cen- ter was packed to the walls and chairs had to be placed in the patio to accommodate the large crowd. Students seated in the patio area faithfully and attentively listened to the speeches regardless of the hot sun ' s discomfort. Upon com- pletion of the formalities, the freshmen girls remained at the assembly to receive the an- nouncement of their big sister, who was to guide them through the first quarter of school. A s the girls left the student cen- ter, they proceeded to the new- ly-constructed music building where they were entertained at the Philo sponsored tea. The officers of Thi Del and Philo became better ac- quainted. The excitement of so many new faces and personalities combined made us look forward to a wonderful year.
