TOMMYE G JURAK When looking back at this past year spent with the Reef staff, all I can see are cluttered, hazy, blurs of the events that shaped this years Reef. Time moves so quickly, 1 can ' t seem to grasp a full picture of everything in my mind. The memories of hectic deadlines and frantic fits lose their color and intensity with each passing day. The times spent teary eyed and discouraged have little meaning now. The year- book is done. There is no need to remember the bad, other than to recognize the good. The happy memories surround me with a glow of warmth like a halo of emotions still being felt. A special bond is built between people who have a common cause to do something which is important to each individual. We all shared the joys and pains of being a staff member. I often felt like a mother nagging at her children and complaining when the job wasn ' t done to the highest possible standard. I didn ' t do this to be mean; I just wanted each staff member to reach his or her ' s highest potential. I hope they forgive me if I pushed too hard or not hard enough. I have probably felt just about every emotion there is in life. Being yearbook editor is like getting a chance to have a free sample of life m the real world, without actually having to go out there. 1 feel fortunate I have had the chance to experience all I did. It gave me a better perspective of who I am and where I wanted to go. 1 couldn ' t have made it through this year without a few special people in my life feeding me encouragement to keep me going. I thank my family for understanding and stepping out of the way when I had the deadline blahs . A smile goes out to all my friends who cheered me up with a grin and a word or two, when I was down. A handshake and a pat on the back goes to Lezlie Gibbs for doing a terrific job as the other co-editor. We complemented each other ' s talents very well. A very special thanks and a hug goes to Mary Ann Thompson for being my closest right brained buddy and for giving me advice when I needed it. I hope I have achieved my goal to help make the 1 98 1 -82 Reef a photo album of memories for all the students of Pacifica to enjoy for a long time to come. God Bless. LEZLIE GIBBS Wow! It ' s over. I can ' t believe I made it through the year in one piece without losing my sanity completely. Although, for a while I had my doubts. It started out easy enough. Everything seemed to be running along smoothly. But then it came, our first deadline, and I found out what being an editor was all about. It wasn ' t going to be as easy as I thought. There were a lot of long hours and headaches involved. Tommye, Mrs. Thompson, and I quickly got to know each other very well. Amazingly enough, we made it through the first deadline. And with the help of a great, wild and crazy staff, we made it through the rest. Although, I couldn ' t have done it without Mike Campion and my mom there to give me love, support, understanding, advice, pep talks, and a shoulder to cry on. Well, it ' s finished, and all the hard work payed off. Good luck to everybody. God Bless ya. J,nn r u M b fP 4UW 273
