We tried to leave the apathy thing out although it is true that had Gomer Pyle, USMC, been killed in action in Vietnam and the CIA risen to become CONTROL'S greatest enemy, the whole scene would have iust passed right over our heads. The REEF staff cared, at least. It was a hard fight for us when we decided to care. for we were constantly worried about what our friends might think. Unfortunately, the staff began to care too much. When half the class began attending Pro-Nuclear rallies while the other half became part of the No Nuke movement, we had quite a few bombing incidents across the classroom, with the only casualties of our little wars being the deadlines we missed with amazing consistency. Whenever we got bored, we just sat around and watched production days accumulate Cwe are now listed in the Guinness Book for the number of production days lostj. We even had our little problems with the higher-ups in the world. They called us apathetic, but we didn't care. Then we asked them for a little help, and they said they didn't care. But, in the beginning of the year, we decided to make this yearbook the best damn book possible, and we decided to care enough and to go for it. Good ole Julie finally made it through after seventeen nervous break- downs, a recurring ulcer, and a fractured leg. The rest of the staff wound up in a sanitarium, but, that's life. Anyway, we did it falthough we may never do it againj. W I sit beside the fire and think of all that I have seen. of meadow-flowers and butterflies in summers that have beem Of yellow leaves and gossamer in autumns that there were. with morning mist and silver sun and wind upon my hair. I sit beside the fire and think of how the world will be when winter comes without a spring that I shall ever see. For still there are so many things that I have never seen: in every wood in every spring there is a different green. I sit beside the fire and think of people long ago, and people who will see a world that I shall never know. But all the while I sit and think of times there were before, I listen for returning feet and voices at the door. J.R.R. Tolkien
