So he employed a strong pitching staff and a solid defense totry to retain the hitting won for the Mariners in I979. And the man many GGL coaches regard the best in their field has made it work. Pacifica has been in first despite having an offense which has a numbing affect on one's mind. When the Mariners are on the diamond, some of the best high school baseball can be observed. Keith V and Tom Saenz lead one of the strongest pitching staffs in the county, and an infield of Kent McBride, Embree, Mike Samuel and Pat Ogle virtually assures that any ball not hit into the outfield will not opponent any bases. 4 1 i , .
