ref N. - x We fir X, Pwr 'Y After winning four of its first eight games, Pacifica's basketball team was ex- pected to make a heavy impact on the Gar- den Grove League. Instead, the Mariners continued to be a second division club, fin- ishing sixth with a 2-IO record. The Mariners, favored by many to finish fourth, won their two opening games, 4I-40 over University and 55-49 over Magnolia. But they dropped 2Opoint games to league powers Los Amigos and Bolsa Grande and never recovered. All league forward Jeff Oines led Pacifica with a I7 point average, pulling down eight rebounds a game. Charlie Reed. Randy Gun- derson, Dean Blackowski, Marc Harrison, Cliff Koustik, and Bill Smith also contributed heavily to the Mariners' attack. The highlight of Pacifica's season was an 84-67 triumph over Garden Grove.
