-.-. .,,-. Runners At the Garden Grove League Finals, the Mariners struggled in the rain to earn third place, leaving them with an overall second place standing in league. This position not only qualified the team for CIF competition, but it also set future teams back on the road toward a first ever league championship. Four people who will try to make the dream of a league crown a reality next year will be Clair Haney. Tom Sisneros. Bob Thompson, and Ken Vizzini-this year's top J.V. runners. Individual league champion Clair Haney led the Junior Varsity team to a third place standing in league. Endure Through

,Lt v A A Q , . -f --.11 f ,Hes - ,I 1.- From Successful Season The l979 Mariner water polo team finished in the thick of league competition with a fourth place finish. Although a rather mediocre finish, it is commendable in view of the obstacles the team had to overcome lust to get going. The team was without a coach for more than two weeks at the beginning of the season. PHS alumnus Ron Carroll volunteered to take the position, although he had had no former coaching experience. He had. however. been an All- American water polo player at Cypress College. Two weeks into the season and with a rookie coach, the Mariner poloists' '79 season finally got underway. The team had some good talent and was paced by top players John Robison and Robert Hamilton. Hamilton was the team's major offensive weapon with a season total of 64 goals. Both Robison and Hamilton were named to the All-Garden Grove League squad. en 3rd Row: Tim McVicar. David Smith. Coach-Ron Carroll. Mike Mock.
