Scott Krieger Most Worth Mariner Scott Krieger has been awarded the title of Most Worthy Mariner for his overall participation in school activities. Scott is a member of the senior class cabinet. He was also elected to the Presidential Classroom and spent a week in Wash- ington D.C. ln the classroom Scott has maintained a 3.6 grade average with such courses as Chemistry English and Fundamental Math Analy- sis. He will graduate as a sealbearer. Scott was also a member of the yearbook staff in his junior and senior years. He was staff photographer. He covered all the major sport events and major school activities. In his senior year in the boy s sport section. Scott is working part-time while in school to earn money for his summer trip to Europe. When he comes back he plans to attend Cal Poly Pomona where he will pursue a career in business. His involvement in civic activities however may indicate a future career in politics. Already he has shown his political capability by running his father s political campaign. Congratulations Scott and good luckl O addition to being photographer. Scott was responsible for doing Leadership, Scholarship, Total Contribution To School Programs Most Worth Mariner Lauren DeMarco has earned the title of Most Worthy Mariner for her fine participation in school activities In her Junior year Lauren was secretary of the Junior Class Cabinet She often did more than her share of the work Her enthusiasm and involvement in school activities earned her the title Mariner of the Month in the l978 l979 school year As junior class officer she organised most of the junior s GCLIVI ties She organized both the I979 and I98O Co eds and did an exceedingly good job in organizing the Junior Senior Prom Lauren was also a member of the Student League for two years She was a member of the Interact Club In Ilth grade and was Involved in both yearbook and journalism She has been able to maintain a 3 4 grade average while being in the honor s program Congratulations Lauren' Good luck in the futurel Lauren DeMarco O - in - u 1 - u - n - ' . . . . . . . , . . . . . . . v j

Pacifica advanced to the CIF finals for the second time in three years. but this time the Mariners remembered to bring home the prize. The team swept through the second half of league undefeated to take its fourth straight title. then set its sights on the higher goal. Led by CIF Player of the Year Russ Burdeno. the Mariners attacked Chadwick, University, La Quinta and Keppel to reach the championship against Avaiation. The Mariners' dream looked trod upon after 40 minutes N. as the taller Falcons used height to take a 2-0 advantage. But Burdeno and Dave Streud, a first-team all-ClFer, took charge of the field in the second half using a ground game to give Pacifica a 3-2 victory. Charlie Abernathy opened the Mari- ners' scoring three minutes into the half and Burdeno's penalty kick tied it up I5 minutes later. Pacifica had many scoring opportunities in the final 20 minutes. but it wasn't until the 76th minute of the contest that Burdeno delivered a blue trophy to Pacifica, one-timing Tom Cook's pass past the Aviation goalkeeper. Goalie Robby Weil, who recorded I4 shutouts Ctwo in the play- offsj, and Mike Stocke Cfour playoff goalsj joined Burdeno and Sterud on the All-CIF team. n... I, . 1 P 0 ur, 5 5. Y 1 4: .
