Coach George Hall ' s Junior Varsity Cagers walked away with a de- cisive Championship in the Riverside Elks Tournament. A Rubidoux quintet was easily defeated in the first game of the tourney, 66-48; a Pomona team succumbed to a smashing Pirate offense in the second tip-off, 76-46; and in the semifinals our Pirates bombed the visiting Redlands team, 67-62. Pulling away in the finals, our undefeated JV five beat SBHS, 65-48. The team ended with a 16-5 record as Mark Levin scored 274 points in 21 games.

For most of us the Christmas vacation was a time for just relaxation and freedom away from school studies, but for our athletic teams it was the time for VICTORY. Our Bee Basketball team was no exception, however. Led by high-scoring senior forward, Dennis Car lock, our Bees played their finest ever and captured the Championship of the Aquinas Tournament. Without the decisive coaching by Mr. Arvil Hale many Pir- ate victories could have fallen the other way. But good coaching, fine sportsmanship, and excellent scoring ability proved to be deciding factors for Pirate supremacy. Our Bees ended with a fine 15-6 season record, ending 6-4 in CBL. Fighting valiantly, Pirate Bee star Uribes pots in another basket for Coach Avril Hale ' e explosive team in important clash with Redlands. Sprinting in for a valuable two points in the f?nal seconds, Don Roberts lays in a bucket to spark Pirate Bees over Ramona, 71-68. Coach Hale ' s Bees finish with 15-6 Season Record Coach Patterson ' s Cees compile 10-5 Season Record Not wanting to be left out of the shining spotlight of one of Pacific ' s greatest years in ath- letics, our lowly Cee Basket- ball team fought its way through a rough CBL season and ended with an excellent 10-5 won lost record. Led by the expert coaching of Mr. Chuck Patterson, our C cag- ers worked hard daily to im- prove their basketball skills on the court. The few people who did attend their games soon came to realize that they were, on their own level of course, really just as good as any of our other more popular JV or Varsity te ' ams. Outstanding performances by ever-improv- ing John Shaffer helped to gain our Cees the equal status they most certainly deserve. Speeding away from all outside competition, C cage star Rubin Chavez appears to be all alone as he lays up easy basket for Pacific. Although they received very little school support, our Cee cagers, led by high-scoring John Shaffer (34), continued to upset cage teams.
