During l96O, both the instrumental musicians and choral groups, participated in approximately fifteen festivals, concerts, and parades, some of which were the UCLA band day, Hollywood Santa Claus Lahe Parade, National Orange Show bowl game, District Festival, District Music Festival, and SCVA festivals. The Home Economics program for l96O included a more concentrated instruction in physical and personal develop- ment. The sewing departments increased their instructional equipments with new Singer and Pfaff sewing machines. The Art Department was divided into two maior sections, Fine Arts, including all classes for art development, a study of commercial and industrial design, and Arts and Crafts which were offered in the new crafts room. All sections of the Applied Arts Department took advantage of vocational and specialized speakers. This Advanced Art class of Mr. Les Nielsen is diligently working on cubist paintings which are of contemporary French origin.

A foreign language laboratory with listen- ing booths, recorders, and other equipment was established to provide for more efficient and individualized learning ofa new tongue. The De- velopmental Laboratory was expanded to include students from all three classes. Remedial Reading classes divided their time to provide for a more intensive study of reading and communicating skills. Language Arts students visited the Huntington Library, the UCLA campus, many legitimate stage productions and musicals in Los Angeles and made a special excursion to the production of the opera, Aida. A writing clinic, held in the spring helped publish Pacific's two magazines, Pacific Orig- inals and a humor magazine, originated by the Journalism classes.
