illnnthall Qlhampinng , I .J -. Smngg A combination of tough defense and explosive offens added up to the football championship for Dale Songy's tea this year. Leading the league in both of their categories, Songy's team rolled over all opponents to a perfect 6-0-0 rec- ord. The offensive unit was composed of the 1eague's leadin quarterback. Coach Fulbright completed 90 of 146 asses fo a 61.676 average. Dale Songy, the 1eague's leading receiver, caught 41 passes for a new record at O.A. Mike Petry, the center, was also a valuable asset to the team, both on offense and defense. Mike caught several key passes during the seaso one of which was the big catch of the year that clinched the championship in the final game with only one minute remain ing in the game. This gave Songy a 21-19 victory over once- defeated Haskell. Halfbacks, Jack Goslee and Arlan Monroe, provided great protection for the quarterback and also figured in some key plays. Dwight Vincent, in the backtield, constantly harassed the quarterback, forcing him to make mistakes. Dale Robertson, playing the end opposite Songy, also provided the balance which the team needed to win.
