The cost of printing this monthly newspaper is adequately covered by the subscription price of 51.00 per year. Every year at the beginning of school a subscrip- tion campaign is launched that results in enthusiastic rivalry between two teams, this year the Squaws and the Braves. Although the Squaws won the contest this year, everyone is a winner, for with the reaching of the 2,100 goal, the students earned an added day of vacation. In addition, everyone who brought in 25 or more subs was rewarded with a day on the ski slopes of Marble Falls, near Harrison, Arkansas. This coveted prize was so popular that the list of skiers this year exceeded all former years. The MOUNTAIN ECHO is staffed by students who are responsible for assigning news articles, writ- ing news columns, and keeping the mailing list cur- rent. Art editor Russell Borth prepares most of the art work for the paper. Mrs. Velda Nelson, English teacher, edits the news and directs the layout. In addition to 8 monthly issues, a ninth number is prepared at the end of the year as a supplement. Named REVERBERATIONS, this illustrated pam- phlet carries literary work done by the English classes during the year. Art students contribute pen and ink drawings, and the book becomes a very at- tractive souvenir.
