Vance Presley Sicher Donny Sicher had a much better team than his 1 record indicates. At one time during the season they were only two games out of first place, but failed to rise to the oc- casion because of a poor defense and mediocre offense. David McWilliam showed fine signs of passing excellenc but was too long between showings. Neither could Craig Stokes come up with the fire power needed. V On the receiving end were ends, Donny Sicher and Bret Langlois. They didn't catch many passes because of a poor of fensive line or because the ball was thrown astray or was in- tercepted. Jackson Whitacre and David Hyde, serving as half- backs weren't able to catch many passes either, since they ha to help block for the quarterbacks. On the defensive end, Vance Presley, Jackson Whitacre, and Craig Stokes were unable to reach the opposing quarter- backs soon enough, allowing them time to throw more com- pletions. Overall Sicher had a good year, but was unable to win when necessary.

Haskell's team played several games without two of their starters, Merrill Haskell and Allan Beyer, because of injury. In spite of this, Haskell's team came in sec- ond with a 4-2-0 record. Merrill Haskell leading the league in passing, had a 6196 completion average, completing 58 passes for 755 yards. Dean Watkins not only alternated, but filled in as quarterback when Haskell wasn't playing. Allan Beyer seemed to be the team's favorite re- ceiver, catching 2l receptions for 254 yards. At the other end was Gary Huffaker gathering in 17 for 7 touchdowns. Doug Bendall, the team's center, was able to get open for numerous clutch catches. Rick Faber and Ron Shaffer served as halfbacks. They not only helped protect the quarterback but were often used as running and passing players. Nick Simmons pressured interceptions and sacked the quarterback many times behind the line. Overall, Haskell's team had a good year. They were able to pull together with each team member giving 10071 effort to make it a good team.
