The first graduating class was 6 composed of just one person, Stella Cooper, now Mrs. I. M. Poggi. As the town grew, so did the school. The second graduating class had a dozen members. By the time the railroad came to Oxnard, the senior class numbered almost forty. This year Oxnard will graduate almost three hundred into a thriving community that will have no trouble ab- sorbing them into the business world. Even with its first graduate, Oxnard High School indicated that it was truly a community high school. While a large number of the seniors go on to college, the vast majority of the students go into business and remain in the community. Such was the case with Mrs. Poggi. She was not only the first graduate, she was also the first stu- dent to go through the business course offered.
