In this commencement year 1965, you enter upon adult life in a world far different from that remembered by your parents on their graduation day. No one can fully comprehend this world you enter, nor can anyone foretell the conditions of the future. For certain it is, however, that the world will change. It is even now changing with ever increasing rapidity. Disillusioning changes have frightened many Americans who are calling for a return to the tried and true , or, in other words, a return to a familiar and comfortable bygone day. Since you, too, may be assailed by frightening changes in the world you now enter, you will necessarily ask yourselves many questions: Will the new automation leave me jobless---or provide me with new job opportunities? Will the new social upheavals of have not peoples cause me to kill or be killed in a city riot, a Mississippi town, Viet Nam, Panama or the Congo---or will these upheavals one day result in a more equitable and peaceful society for all men? Will the new power politics of the great powers lead me and all mankind into the oblivion of an atomic holocaust---or into a new era of law and order marked by limitless nuclear power used to enrich my life? No one knows the answers to these questions. The RIGHT answers must be found! They are most likely to come from continuing educational experiences which include not only the assimilation of facts in formal schools but also the knowledge and wisdom learned on the job, in the home and church, in the public meeting, and byway of an enlightened press. This education for a new age may provide some answers and give you and all other Americans a new outlook, a new frame of mind. A great American once expressed the challenge of a revolutionary time with immortal words. His outlook is as new and far-reaching today as it was over one hundred years ago. The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew. We must disenthral ourselves ---and then, we shall save our country. QAbraham Lincolnj Best Wishes , ,Maja Edward A. Adamo EDWARD A.
